Adelaide
Must gets-
Scott Thompson -
had a great year in a struggling side, next year when the crows climb up the ladder, this guy won't stop dominating. Would average 100+
Patrick Dangerfield - Depends where he plays, if he is still under mark bickley, i would consider him. Bickley plays him as a midfielder which is his most suited position. Would average 100+ if midfielder.

Avoids -
Shaun Mckernan
-  Just a plain dud, doesnt do too much as a player, neither a fantasy scorer. Very inconsisent. Would average less than 60.

Brisbane -
Must Gets
Daniel Rich
- Would be as cheap as chips due to the heavy tags and injury. Now that most of the attention is at Black, Redden and Rockliff he wouldnt cop lots of tags next year.If he has a full uninterrupted pre season, this player will show that he is elite. Would average 100+
Callum Bartlett - No one has ever heard of this guy. 2 years ago, he was mocked as a top 10 draft pick. But 2 knee reconstructions has stopped him from playing an afl game, and to get stolen at pick 27. He is alot like Leigh Matthews / Dustin Martin type of player as a good goal kicking midfielder with a great kick and explosive speed. Watch highlights if you have to, definelty one to watch. Could average around the 80s and costs fantasy wise as much as a first year player, that is hard to avoid. When this player is a star, remember this description when  you first heard of him.

Avoid -
Tom Collier -
He may be cheap, but dont even bother thinking about him. Can't even get a game as big as the brisbane injury list is. When he does play he doesnt score too high.

Carlton
Must Gets-

Marc Murphy - With all the attention and heavy tags copped onto Judd, this guy tends to run on his own and dominates. High contender for brownlow and is very consistent, Will score 100+
Kane Lucas - Injury has limited him less than 20 games, but was picked up by carlton with pick 12. Is a hard at it midfielder and is dominating in the carlton reserves. If he has an injury free pre season, this guy is definitely worth having a think about

Avoids -
Lachlan Henderson
- If continues to play as a key backmen, he would sacrifice his fantasy game to stop the opposition key forward. Wouldn't score too high.

Collingwood -
Must Gets-
Dane Swan, Scott Pendlebury -
Do i really need a description? Very Consistent and will average 100+ These players must be in your team.

Avoid -
Brad Dick
- Injury Prone and is collingwoods 26th man, he finds it hard to get a game.

Essendon -
Must Gets-
Dyson Heppell-
Rising star winner, high contention for clubs best and fairest. Would continue to dominate next year and is injury free. Would average 80-100
Jobe Watson - Elite midfielder, If having a good preseason he will be all up and running ready to go for round 1.

Avoid -
David Meyers -
Mostly plays as a key backmen, so sacrificing his fantasy game for doing a team role. Won't score too high.

Fremantle -
Must Gets -

Michael Barlow - Should be pretty cheap, if he has a good uninterrupted pre season, he will find the form like he started off the afl with. I rate this guy highly, will dominate next year.
David Mundy - Also will be cheap, had a great first half of the year averaging 100 + but missed a chunk of the year due to a lower leg injury. Should be fired up ready to go round 1 next year. Would Average 100+
Anthony Morabito Again, also very cheap, has a big build for a midfielder and should show fremantle why they picked him up in 2009 with pick 4. Will score well.

Avoid -
Adam McPhee
- Doesn't move around very well, scores low. Simple, avoid him.

Geelong-
Must Gets-
Steve Johnson -
The best half forward flank in the league. Classy forward, who not only kicks alot of freaky goals, but can go up the ground and find the ball. Will continue to score high 100+
Joel Selwood - Elite Midfielder - Average 100+

Avoid -
Darren Milburn
- Think this year might be his last, but if he plays on, Chris Scott will continue to give the younger guys a go in Milburns position.

Gold Coast -
Must Gets

David Swallow - Looks like this guy has been playing afl for about 5 years. Already competing greatly with the elite at such a young age. Will average 90+
Gary Ablett - You can't not get ablett. Should be in your team automatically and captain every week.

Avoid -
Tom Lynch
- Hard to score well as a key forward for the wooden spooners.

Hawthorn -
Must Gets-
Cyril Rioli
- If he can overcome his troubling hamstring, you will not regret getting Rioli.
Grant Birchall Should get the cheap marks and kicks like what he did for the majoritiy of the year. Uses the ball well and always running free of half back. Will score you 80-90+ and should be fair cheap
Jarryd Roughead- Had to mention him, will be cheap as chips and if he continues to play foward/ruckman, definitely one to consider.

Avoids -
Stephen Gilham -
Injury prone, when he does play his hawthorns full back and sacrifices his fantasy game for the oppositions key forward

North Melbourne
Must Gets

Ben Cunnington Was picked up by the roos with pick 5 in 2009, is a hard nut and finds the ball well. Will be very cheap and should score well
Majak Daw - Could be a massive risk, but could be used next year as a back up ruckman/ forward - like a Nic Naitanui. Very exciting player. Could be worth just to sit on your bench as your 2nd/3rd emergency forward.

Avoid
Ben McKinley - too small for a key forward, doesnt get much of a go but when he plays he doesnt dominate, neither with fantasy wise.

Melbourne-
Must Gets
Jack Watts -
2012 is the year that Jack Watts will show everyone why he was pick 1. He will be very cheap, and should be playing higher up the ground. With the young melbourne team developing and heading the right direction (despite there 185 point loss against geelong not long ago) One to definitely to consider.
Jack Trengove Shown great signs and great scores in the half struggling/half dominating team. He will have a great year next year. Should average 90-100+

Avoid
Lynden Dunn - Not the best fantasy scorer, doesnt play too much.

Port Adelaide
Must Gets
Hamish Hartlett
- This player is an absolute gun with the struggling port adelaide. Hes a great player and a great scorer. average 100+
Matthew Lobbe As Ports No.1 ruckman, he is doing a very good job for point, and fantasy scoring.

Avoid
Daniel Motlop -  To much of a hog, doesnt score well, a freaky and exciting player but not good fantasy scoring.

Richmond
Must Gets
Trent Cotchin
- Richmonds future captain, greater leader and great fantasy scorer. Star midfielder.
Brett Deledio - The most consistent player and fantasy scorer in the afl, scores 100+ everyweek.

Avoid
Angus Graham -
would expect more from him as the number 1 ruckman for richmond, but is a spud. Avoid.

St.Kilda
Must Gets
Ben McEvoy
- Finally finding form, great around the ground ruckman and a great tap ruckman. Scores around 100 every week
Brendon Goddard So consistent and scores around 100 every week

Avoid
Zac Dawson - Key backmen that doesnt score much. Not many people rate him, but not the type of player to put in your fantasy team, dont get it.

Sydney
Must gets
Adam Goodes -
High contention for the brownlow this year, a player who can change games and win them off his own boot. Scores 100-200 points.
Ryan Okeefe Very consistent fantasy scorer. Averages 100 +
Gary Rohan A great young Midfielder / Forward, who will be fair cheap by missing a chunk of the season. Plays a lot like Brendon Goddard, and very effective with his disposal. Top 10 pick in the draft 2 years ago. If he is cheap, he should already be in your team, this player looks like he is going to have a very good career.

Avoid-
Jesse White -
Big boy but hes not a good fantasy scorer. Simple, dont get him.

West Coast
Must Gets
Dean Cox, Nic Naitanui -
The best ruckman duo in the competition, both score high 100s.

Avoid -
Erik Mackenzie
Key backmen, so sacrifices his game to stop the key forwards. Doesnt score high

Western Bulldogs
Must Gets
Matthew Boyd
- Scored only under 100 3 or 4 times in 2011, simply get him
Luke Dahlhaus A very exciting player, who should get more of a go in the middle, the little fast small forward/ midfielder has shown he can score well. One to think about

Avoid-
Brian Lake
- Injury prone lately, and cannot find his 2010 All Australian full back form, dont think about getting him.

FFS it's TRENGOVE, not Trengrove. If you can't get that right, then your opinion is meaningless to me.

Zip it dog, you're dead in my book.

So he isn't such a must have?

How about... thank you for your time and effort that went into this post :)

Nice right up, although Jack Watts won't be that cheap next year  :-\, probably a high mid pricer.

This thread is spot on. I bet you would definitely win if you took the advice.

Mids would be: Thompson, Dangermouse, Rich, Murphy, Lucas, Swan, Pendlebury, Jobe, Barlow, Mundy, Morabito, Selwood, Swallow, Ablett, Cunnington, Trengrove (whoever the F he is), Hamstring Hamish, Cotchin and Boyd.

You're looking at about 2000 points from the midfield alone. AMAZING.

Still it gives a good list for people to put players on their radar to monitor over the preaseason. Gives some good uniques to look out for, i disagree with some of the players e.g lake but good effort.

Good write up GWS and for the time you put into it.  Obviously there are a number of arguments for players not seen as Must Gets and for some of the Must Gets.  Very good thread. Thanks for letting out Bartlett who will hopefully have a full pre-season.  IMO Daniel Rich if he keeps his final SC price will only be $310k  and good value.

Edge

this would probably only be a good thread for people who have NO idea about dreamteam/supercoach

people who have a clue would know who to avoid.

supercoach addict

Not sure about Scott Thompson. He's still scoring well but he's no spring chicken. Also wouldn't get Daulhaus, promising start but can't see him having a 2nd  year like Fyfe or Rockliff had.
