Im currently in a trading game and i picked up the roos, what do you guys think have i improved the team or runied us. I got the swallow brothers so that should make some people happy.

B        Nathan Grima, Harry Taylor, Robbie Tarrant
HB      Levi Greenwood, Lachlan Hansen, Michael Firrito
C       Jack Ziebell, Liam Anthony, Shaun Atley
HF     Aaron Edwards,  Hamish Mcintosh,  Brent Harvey
F       Lindsay Thomas, Sam Reid ,Cameron Pederson
Foll    Todd Goldstein, Andrew Swallow, David Swallow
I/C    Dayne Beams, Scott McMahon, Josh Caddy , Cruze Gartlett,
Emg    Nic Lower, Leigh Adams, Cameron Richardson

Traded out:
Bastinac   (great player but got a good deal)
Petrie      ( is a star but i decided to pick up some young guns so we can dominate in 2-3 years.
Wells       ( probably our best player this year but i got alot for him)
Harper     ( wil be a star but i think beams is better now and will be better)
Thompson   ( didnt really need him with taylor)

Traded in:
33 (probably Josh Caddy)
David Swallow (my favourite in will be a deadly combo with Andrew)
Nick Lower ( solid got him in a package)
Harry Taylor (very good key defender should be a upgrade from Thompson)
Sam Reid   (very promising key forward)
Dayne Beams  (absolute gun)

Pretty bad ins there. Ruined it :(
Beg for a gun.

Okay, IMO...

...you have ruined the team. Especially by trading Petrie out. Sam Reid is a speculative choice, and not the full-foward North needs. The team really needs a proven 60 goal a season goalkicker.

You could still save the team by trading HMac out for a true gun forward or a gun centre-half backman and then move Edwards to CHF.

Taylor is a good inclusion, along with Lower and Beams. Personally I would have kept Harper as well. Having the Swallow brothers together isn't a big deal IMO.

you may be right, but i got rid of petrie for taylor because i personally feel colliingwood and the hawks will be invincible for a couple of years. So i made that trade because in 3 years petrei will be 32 and taylor will be in his prime. I got rid of thompson for reid because in 3 years reid could be a good option. I think i have crippled the team in the short run but they should be stronger in 3 years. In my opinion David Swallow is gun and we cant forget he was probably the best draft prospect in a long time coming into the season and i think he has been fantastic this year and will be on the level of pendles in 3 years.

In that case, you're right, it's a bad team for a few years, but a great future team.

Should also trade Hansen out for whatever you can get....  ;)

roo boys!

Ruined it unfortunately I think.

Some pretty good Ins, but getting rid of Petrie, Wells, Harper and Basti is a bit iffy.

What i don't like is there's no superstars that have been included, while you've traded out 2 in Wells and Petrie.

Exactly. But if he is aiming for success in the future - worth a shot

It is. But it's risky, you still need the proven performers in each side for them to be competitive. Look at GC, it would take forever for them to get competitive without GAJ, Risky, Bock, Brennan etc...

From this side i only see 4 proven performers: Harvey , A.Swallow , Beams , and Taylor. Only Harvey is an A grader, with the others being B+ players. But should it pay off, wow you have a side!

Well we will never find out if these were good trades or not (unless somehow the roos make the exact same trades)

Where im coming from is i dont think with our current squad we can match collingwood and hawthorn for at least another year. So by the 2013 season petrie would have turned 30 already.

So personally i think Thompson to Taylor is a good move taylor is younger and arguably better.
Many will disagree with me but i think Swallow to Wells is a good improvement. I rate Swallow highly and to be honest wells has had 1 good season ( is still a star though)

Harper + Bastinac for Beams + Lower + the pick depending on the pick i think this is either a breakeven or a big win. I think beams is probably a better player than harper, lower is a bit of a nothing but if i can pick up caddy i will be extremely happy if he wasnt injured everyone would rate him very highly.

petrie for reid is a huge loss but considering age and the risk in reid pays off could be the move that could win us a flag. If our premiership window is 2013-2015 i dont think we can expect petrie to be a big part of that unfortunately. Im trying to make a move on watts or day both risky but could pay off big time.

I have to say i was trying to be emotionless with these trades but as a roo fan i would hate to see these moves actually happen

surely if you classify beams as a proven peformer than surely Goldy is along with probably Hmac and edwards and ziebell have both proved they can play.
