We can blacklist all we want, but when the time comes to pick a side some of those prices are too juicy to resist and we all do it, either because thats all we can afford with our last pick or because "they were killing it preseason".  I reckon everyone who has posted on this site had at least 1 player blacklisted from last year and they picked them up this year only to disappoint?  Off the top of my head I can say Grimes was one of mine, but again he will be temptress for my team next year knowing he will most likely get injured.

Very intelligent comment and when "blacklisting" a player I think people have their expected premium price in mind.

"On Scott Thompson, think he will still be a gun, but the value will be with Vince next year, maybe even Van Berlo although I think he is the wost captain in the league."

Exactly my thoughts, but yeah if Scott Thompson ends up being a starting value of $300k then I'm hopping on. More likely Thompson will be $450k though and there will be better options at that price.

Agreed, actually think Scotty Thompson has finally reached that upper echelon of midefielders and is now interchangeable with Boyd, Pendles even Swan, considering when Thompson tons up its normally pretty big.

I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss Montagna either, he's having a down year and doesn't have Hayes in their doing the hard work for him.  Will be a nice priced starter next year who could move up to top midfielder status if you're willing to take the risk.  I will be if the price is right.

Thompson is 29 come March next year, would that count against him in your mind? Does seem pretty fit but over the past few seasons it's the age when players start getting rested with "general soreness" and all the rest.

You're right the guy has a massive tank, has shown this year that he can't be tagged.  I'd definitely consider him next year, but think there will be more cheaper options next year with more guys stepping up.  He could be somebody I start with instead of Boyd etc.

Mr.Craig

In 2012 my team will be free of Roo, Sylvia and Shaw. The whole of South Australia is also blacklisted. Well, their AFL teams at least.

does that include petrenko, sloane, s.thompson, lobbe, and draft picks. port are going to pick up a high draft ruckman to work with lobbe so at least one player for bench and crows are on the way up. Young inexperienced list that will continue to improve. the way petrenko has been going you would be silly not to consider him

has anyone added fev to the list yet?

popedelio

Well if fev priced like krakouer this year then definitely

I took a punt on Fev when he went to Lions, bad move, his only purpose would be a cash cow if he is cheap enough.

I reckon a crow most people will pick up next year is Ian Callinan, price will still be cheap.

Crows84

Im staying away of boomer harvey, he had reasonable scores but just too inconcsistant and i reckon there was better value out there, problem was i started with him and had to many other trades to make to waste one on him.

Also no Johncock, no adcock and no suckling, (don't like having suckling/cock's in my team)

will also stay away from rioli, sandi, sylvia  and as others have mentioned

Also wont pick up ROK next year, he was ok this year but i think there are better options and he didn't shine as often as he could have

Sam fisher is another, his scores the past month have been terrible with most of his scores coming from junk time lately

I didnt have theses guys this year but also wont go for them next year - k.tippet, taylor walker, j,brown, broughten, anyone from melbourne, n.roo or j.roo,

also i wont go griffen again next year after picking him over boyd when i was tight on $$'s mainly because his formed was less consistent in the later stages of the year but i don't think id go as far as black listing him.

Flame

Lobbe..unless he gets a move on in the second half of my GF.

many, many, many players on my PERMANENT black list out of this year -

heath shaw (complete idiot)

robin nahas (went for a unique option and burnt me all year)

brandon matera (spud)

aaron sandilands (turf toe)

jimmy bartel (had him from the get go and his shower scoring topped off with getting KO'ed and then missing the next week showerted me to tears)

jack grimes (always injured)

josh toy (spud)

leigh montagna (traded him in the week he did his knee)

jarrad irons (could've gone curnow/libba/savage but took this spud at the start and cost me dearly)

andy krakouer (copped all his shower scores, when he got a good score he was on my bench, then i traded him out and he started doing a whole lot better)

andy otten (spudded it up all year, horrible player)

jared brennan (inconsistent as flower another unique option who consistently never delivered especially in r24)

matthew kreuzer (cost me my gf)

christian howard (shocking downgrade option who never played)

Ok how can you black list so many players and many of them first year players.

Heath Shaw - fair enough

Robin Nahas - don't know what scores you are looking at but the player of his price was a great pickup

Brandon Matera - First year player

Aaron Sandilands - Just because he does one random injury why would you black list a bloke who when injury free will ave 100+

Jimmy Bartel - Had him all year myself and yea he wasn't as good as previous years but he was still solid and averaged nearly 100 and as for him getting KO'ed thats not his fault

Jack Grimes - fair enough

Josh Toy - First year player

Leigh Montagna - Thats just unlucky for you but he is a bloke that normally plays every game and will give you an ave of 100+ most years so why black list him

Jarrad irons - First year player and if thats the reason you want to use with him maybe you should black list yourself from dreamteam next year.

Andy Krakouer - was a great pick at the start of the year and again if this is the excuse you are using maybe you should black list yourself. Not his fault you make bad DT decisions on when to play him or when to trade him

Andy Otten - Had him myself would have liked more from him but he did more than his price said he would.

Jared Brennan - He has never been consistant so once again black list yourself from dreamteam because you should have known what you were getting yourself into

Matthew Kruezer - He was coming of a knee reco so you couldn't expect the world from him and to say you are blacklisting him because of round 24 does that mean you will black list players like Fyfe, Hodge, Buddy ect because they didn't even play round 24

Christian Howard - First year at AFL level and a downgrade is used for cash not to play so it shouldn't really matter if he plays or not. Again black list yourself for the poor decision.

me

you do understand that the concept of this black list deals with players that you personally won't be getting again

i DEFINITELY won't be getting any of these players in 2012, some because they're shower and others purely on principle - - - there is no "right" or "wrong" blacklist, it's all up to the individual lol

by all means, get them yourself!

No I totaly get the black list. heath Shaw is serving a life ban from my team and that was from last year. But It just seems you aren't even keeping your options open. A first year player is always going to take a bit of time finding their feet and are you telling me that if say Matera gets a midfield role like Fyfe next year you won't even look at him or are you telling me if Bartel and Montagna return to their points scoring best next year you won't be picking them up at some stage?

Holz

alot of people banned heath shaw after the car incident a couple of years back and his up and down scoring but everyone jumped ship this year when he consistenly pumped 85+ scores most weeks. i expect the same to happen next year when he is averaging 95 haflway through the season.

Grimes is a defintie lock if has a full preseason and probably shaw also.
