if you had swan would you pick him as captain? looks like he is on the Interchange

bundyboy

GAJ out of these choices no doubt.....

my question is whether I trade GAJ in this week, and if I do - is Swanny or GAJ going to be my captain....

plugz19

GAJ for me, over swan

aussymoose

and if you dont have GAJ, have peds, swan, a swallow, mitchell, boyd, and bartel. Which one??

bundyboy

no GAJ - just stick with Swanny

or....

if you are brave....Buddy could kick 10 this week.....

LaHug

So, I changed my mind and thought I'd put in the effort to do 2 more captains threads for the year.
Requests might take a long while though...

The facts:

Pendlebury
Last 3: 94, 107, 120 (107 avg)
Last 3 against Fremantle: 117, 86, 49 (84 avg)
Last 3 at Subiaco: 117, 139, 84 (114 avg)

Swan
Last 3: 119, 137, 155 (137 avg)
Last 3 against Fremantle: 131, 158, 72 (120 avg)
Last 3 at Subiaco: 131, 158, 72 (120 avg)

Mitchell
Last 3: 96, 128, 129 (118 avg)
Last 3 against Bulldogs: 103, 128, 112 (114 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 128, 113, 137 (126 avg)

Boyd
Last 3: 123, 115, 126 (121 avg)
Last 3 against Hawthorn: 119, 121, 154 (131 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 89, 121, 86 (99 avg)

Ablett
Last 3: 142, 106, 118 (122 avg)
Last 3 against Melbourne: 124, 121, 90 (112 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 108, 109, 114 (110 avg)

Thompson
Last 3: 151, 89, 138 (126 avg)
Last 3 against Richmond: 122, 121, 124 (122 avg)
Last 3 at AAMI: 89, 71, 104 (88 avg)

The thoughts:

Pendlebury
The streak ended at 12 consecutive tons. A couple of mediocre weeks in a row sees Pendles as not the best option for this week. However, Fremantle are hugely depleted and he does like Subi. I expect him to bounce back this week but probably not going to match the likes of Swan and GAJ. Prediction - 120

Swan
The fact that people were disappointed with a 119 last week says it all. Swanny is a freak and we expect huge numbers from him. Fremantle are just getting more injury depleted by the week and, at Subi, you'd expect a large number of DT points to be racked up by Collingwood. Expect something HUGE from Swanny this week. Prediction - 150

Mitchell
Mitchell also ended his streak of consecutive tons at 11 last week. Nevertheless, he is playing against a team he likes to play against at a ground he LOVES to play at. He has been very reliable this season and should do well again this week. Prediction - 125

Boyd
Boyd is back and amongst the DT elite. I'll be honest, I was surprised when I saw his scores against the Hawks, but they are good! Only worry is whether he can kill it at the MCG. Prediction - 120

Ablett
Ablett hasn't played at the MCG yet this year but was 7/7 for tons there last year. That stat is actually a lot less exciting than you may think when you consider that he tonned 18/21 games last year... Still, good numbers against the Dees and back in great form. He must be a good option (especially if you want a non-Swan option). Prediction - 130

Thompson
Had to include this guy after his recent form. Interestingly, his big scores have been away from home. Against Richmond (who haven't won in Adelaide for yonks), you'd expect a lot of the ball from Adelaide and quite possible a huge score. Still, he's riskier than other options (but great if you want an edge). Prediction - 125

The verdict:

1. Swan (150)
2.Ablett (130)
3. Mitchell (125)
4. Thompson (125)
5. Pendlebury (120)

Requests:

Franklin - Requested by 2 large cokes
Last 3:92, 142, 86 (107 avg)
Last 3 against Bulldogs: 115, 96, 74 (95 avg)
Last 3 at MCG: 142, 127, 55 (108 avg)

Buddy Franklin is always a huge risk for captains choice. You can rarely predict his scores but you can look at his potential against a team. Just remember, before I go on, a potential 150 could still mean a 60 from this guy - you've been warned. His recent form isn't bad and that 142 was quite nice. He's played the Dogs once this year for a score of 115 (at Etihad) and the Bulldog backline is no stronger than it was back then. Buddy has very high potential at the MCG where he has been known to kick a bag. Prediction - 120 (but a risky one - only choose him if you're no chance of winning your game otherwise)

If you want me to look at another option, just ask in the comments!

LaHug

Just realised that my top 5 is almost identical to Calvin's... woops ::)

Still putting Pendles in top 5 over Boyd?
Yes because I think his ceiling is higher this season. Boyd hasn't been pumping out huge scores. He's probably safer but less likely to get you a huge score.

I'll have a look now just before I go to bed.

Thanks for this! Always good to have more stats and opinions than less. (Was tempted to say "always goodes" but I thought it was too late at night for awful puns).
If one of the administrators could maybe combine this in with my thread?
