Haha probably cos no one bothers making viruses for macs.
Saying that I have a mac and I love it, have used them all my life :)

as has been said many less viruses are developed for Mac's, I have had no major problems with Windows in the past, apart from virus caused corruptions, and IMO Windows has been great, aside from Vista and 7, and of those 2 only Vista has been a real headache

Master Q

Cic, I'd rather have a small chance of having a virus, then have a Computer which is totally controlled by Apple, who make all the decisions for me and have no freedom, at all.

Windows all the way.

AFEV

Depends what you want to do with your computer.
The Mac Vs. Windows battle is rather pointless. They both have their strengths.

I am seriously considering the Envy for compatibility though.

Master Q

What's the good part about Mac? It looks good?

The only thing I'd say which is good about Mac is it's exclusive media programs are great.

CrowsFan

The ease of use of a mac is better than windows.

I don't see the point in this argument though cos everyone has a different opinion on which is better.

I'm not even saying macs are better, I'm just saying I prefer them

WHAT!
Go die apple.
You want apple to die because their CEO stepped down due to illness?
How considerate of you BB
I am considerate, thanks for noticing.

Douchebag a better word.

Usability, safety, a lot of ports, with the MBP its actual specs are getting a lot better, it is much much much better for drawing etc. (from what I have heard... Idon't draw) and just all around it is much better with media programs and such.

What mac represents is also extremely desirable.

This was true ~5 years ago. Now Windows Vista/7 have a far better record with various types of malware that OSX.

Part of the issue was that so few people used to use Macs, few people tried to create malware for the platform. It wasn't virus free due to any intelligent design.

There is no doubt Windows XP had significant security issues mainly because it wasn't (in hindsight quite stupidly) designs accounting for the incredible increase in size of the internet. The problem was compounded because of how long it took them to release another OS.

Now the choice comes mainly down to preference. Windows, because of its market saturation will provide the least issues in terms of compatibility with software and hardware, although the use of standards is decreasing this gap.

For your average user to the near computer illiterate, my experience suggests Windows 7 is more user friendly. However, for your average younger user, who will continue to grow up to become the average user soon, it is purely a matter of preference. For more specialised purposes that is a different case all together, but for most things there is little difference these days (apart from games which is slowly growing on the Mac).

You buy a Mac, you will get, on the whole, very will built quality hardware. You will pay a significant premium for it, and you will have less flexibility in terms of choice and modification. Again, a choice for the consumer that most people will either be aware of, or seek out a friend who is knowledgeable enough to inform them. You pay for quality, the brand/appearance. Quite a few people buy Macs and install Windows 7 on them because they like the hardware and the look, for aesthetics and the fashion element that Apple has so cleverly created.

As for media programs, like security, it used to be the bread and butter of Macs 5 years ago, now though it is basically the same on both. Your higher end professional software is all available on Windows and your middle range user software like iMovie, Garage Band all have high quality equivalents on Windows.

iPods/iPhones/iPads, that is another issue and since I have already ranted I will leave that for another time  ;D

lol.

I'm a windows man myself- I rate the ipod/iphone, don't really know enough about the ipad to comment. That being said, when I was in school, our school began swapping from PC's to macs due to our assistant principal loving apple taking him up the ass or something :P

And, I've got to say they're not nearly as compatible as PC's, and I found their design and layout for the OS considerably inferior to W7, and even vista/ xp.
