When is the AFL going to fix the holding the ball ruling?

Gone are the days a father can say to his son, "Son, if you go in for the ball hard, you'll be awarded a free kick".  Instead the decision is holding the ball "You dragged it under" "you dived on it" [Incorrect terminology I know but they say it] "you held it in" etc, why did the AFL rules committee ever decide that it'd be better for the game if the guy going in for the ball was to be penalised and the softer player who doesn't lays the tackle, holds the ball to a player and gets rewarded. It's the biggest joke to our game and I'm sure it turns a tonne of viewers and new comers to our game off it.

My problem with this is I don't care if he dove on it, he's the one trying to make the damn play. The other guys let him get the ball, and how's he meant to get it out when two guys tackle him and pin the ball to him.

Unfortunately, never.
I believe they should lay back on the Holding the ball rule and penalise them that drop it for incorrect disposal.

The 3rd person that comes in to the tackle and holds the ball in is the one who should be penalised.  Not the person going for the ball or the 1st tackler.

Incorrect disposal is my biggest issue at the moment - it showers me to here "He made an attempt".  Bulldust, he made an attempt and disposed of the ball incorrectly.... it should be a free kick every time.
