8-6 Suited

Press Conference just finished, Rodney Eade will no not coach the Dogs in 2012. Discuss his options here or the Doggies future.

Sad thing, but the writing has been on the wall for a while now.

Whether it is his "pushy" technique or just bad luck, for such a well respected coach, with pretty good ideas, he has never got as far as most expected in winning finals.

I had a good chat to him one time when he came out to our footy club a few years back, really nice guy with a great attitude to life.

Good luck to him, would think he will land somewhere, maybe Adelaide, since I think Melbourne will get Malthouse.

Malthouse likes young lists so he'd be more inclined to go to Melbourne. But I doubt he will go anywhere though. Heard a rumour that the Dogs may approach Gary Ayres, Port Melbourne's coach currently for an AFL return.

From what I heard from the Press Conference both club & coach handled the situation well.

Eade's manager asked to bring the decision forward from the end of the year (presumably to assess best employment options elsewhere), the club obliged and completed their review. Whilst Eade was very disappointed it semed cordial, without too much angst. The likes of Port, Melbourne & Essendon should take note. I think, like the Crows, it was handled pretty well.

I think Ayres is a fantastic coach and the Dogs should take a very good look at him if they can't pick up a senior coach. Has experience as an assistant and very well may coach the Boroughs to a cup this year.

Why should Essendon take note?

The implication is that they didnt handle the coach situation so well last year. This seems to be a decision that each side can live with, even if neither are 100% happy.

I'm waiting for Brendan McCartney to get a senior coaching role.

ayers has senior coaching afl expiernce i think he would b great for the doggies or demons

Ayres would probably suit the more mature team at the dogs rather than that of Melbourne's youngsters.

Rocket has also today officially stepped down from the remainder of the season. Paul Williams, the dogs senior assistant, has taken the reins.

Getting old, I think I now remember 12-13 of the senior coaches when they actually played in the AFL
