Be worse when Taylor Walker joins him!

Thank god you have Talia! And you would want to hope to hell that you can keep walker.

PowerBug

Rutten , Talia , Thompson,L. Only talls left. Imagine if Bock , Stevens and Davis were there too!

And McKernan can play down back if needed...

Could things get much worse?

I suppose we could have lost the Showdown.

I actually support Phil Davis in his decision. Nobody knows their own body better than they do and Phil knows that his slender straigtback frame takes more hits and healing than the avarge bodied player. With this in mind he needs to make the most of what will be a comparatively short career in relation to other players life cycles and must take this grab for coin now. Family ties in NSW also are a strong calling card and my support for him has nothing to do with him being a Rooster  ::)

A huge loss of match reading intelligence who was pencilled to become a General style running director of the backline ala Nathan Bassett and Bock. Serious time will now be invested in DanielTalia, Luke Thomson and that tier of player as the Crows are unlikely to look for a ready made replacement.

Good luck Phil, say hi to Chocco for me  :)

The crows heirachy obviously had their componesation in mind at the 'farwell press conference' whne they were referrirng to this 17 game  player as a future captain and club champion. I guess the better they make him sound, the better the compensation will be.

GWS doesn't have any say in what the compensation will be PB, that is up to the AFL ;)

Otherwise they'd just hand out a bunch of 3rd round picks :o

CrowsFan

Well the AFL has now announced the compensation that the 4 clubs who have lost players are going to get.
For losing Phil Davis Adelaide will receive a first round pick that can be used directly after they have used their first pick. The Doggies get the same thing for losing Callan Ward. This was the second band compensation.
Freo get an end of first round pick for Palmer, which is used after everyone else has picked during the first round. This was third band compensation.
Melbourne get first band compensation, which is 2 first round picks. One pick the same as the Doggies and Crows, which is used after their initial first round pick, and the other a mid first round pick which can be used once all the teams that missed out on finals have had a pick.

These picks can't be used in this draft however, but can be used in the following 4 drafts from 2012 to 2015.

DG

I reckon i read CF that we can use it this draft, but will be at the end of the first, so highly unlikely we would use it now given the apparent leanness of this year draft. would suggest we'll use it next year, given that i would assume that the club is optimistic for the future...

CrowsFan

Just reading through the explanation and it says this:
QuoteThe selection for Phil Davis may be activated by the Adelaide Crows after its round one selection in any one of the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015 NAB AFL Draft Selection Meetings. The selection will be immediately placed behind the Round One selection of the Adelaide Crows in that particular season.

But then does go on to say that if they want to use it in this draft it would be at the end of the first round and not after our first pick. So we wouldn't get picks 10 and 11, we would get picks 10 and pick 27. So would be crazy to use it this year

PowerBug

Will that rule apply to the other clubs e.g. they should wait until 2012 to use their picks?

CrowsFan

Yeah applies to all clubs who get compensation picks
