Richo....gun but too big of a risk?

Very concerned about my selection of richo. hes a gun but his age is worrying and i have a sinking feeling that injuries will plague him in his older years. hes getting to that point where deep muscle injuries are more a question of 'when?' rather that 'if?' Any advice?
