North Melbournes Finest

Is Cam Pedersen the best mature age recruit of the year? I believe if North gave him more of a go from the start of the year the media would be talking about him much more. Another name that comes to mind for me is Nick Duigan, who has been a stellar
defender for Carlton.

But just what happened on the weekend highlighted to me how good Cam Pedersen is going to be for the Kangaroos if we keep him for the future. His ability to go forward and make an impact straight away, in the last quarter we sent him up forward to make something happened and he jagged a goal. Then Barry Hall got off the leash in the last on Delaney, so we sent him down back and Hall didn't get another touch. He can play across the whole ground, full back/center half back/back flank/ruck/center half forward/center half back etc.

Am I over rating or do you guys also see how good he is for this team?

i dont think you are overating him, as you have stated he is incredibility versatile in the first game of the season he went toe to toe with cox and did better than some players have this season with alot more experience. Averaging around 10 kicks a game isnt bad for someone of his size and when he is put into the forward line he normally kicks around 2 goals which is decent for someone who isnt a key forward. Probably not the best pickup this season in terms of quality but his versatility places him quite high on that list in my opinion. There are many players who are better at individual positions but not many on an overall game. He reminds me abit of a goddard (except knowhere near in his class)

No...Not yet at least. He has only played 8 games.
Lower, Hibberd, Duigan, Curnow, Twomey & Callinan all have or have the potential to be better.
To be fair I have only seen a handful of his games but I'd rate him 3rd maybe 4th.

Lower > Curnow > Pederson > Duigan >   My order for what it's worth

I wouldn't saw THE best, but certainly up there.

I love watching him play, and like you guys said his versatility helps a lot :D

Massively over-rating him. MASSIVELY.
Well great opinion but who else is better? I'm open to accepting there's another better mature age recruit, but your post leaves a lot to be determined.

Lower. Then Curnow. Then Duigan. Then Pederson and Puopolo. I am also sure that Isaac Smith counts under the mature age rookie title given his age at the draft being 21. If you want to count him as well then yes, he is also above Pederson.
