will hawthorn rest players in r24 v GC?

the points i think are relevant here:
1. they will win regardless of what team they put on the park, so momentum as a team will be fine. generally the coaches will know which players need to be playing well on a personal level to roll the momentum over and those who can take a week and roll along with the team.
2. most/all players carry knocks or sore spots from week to week. nothing that they cant deal with, but not fresh as daisys. then there are others (like hodge) who play with genuine niggles from time to time.
3. not sure what you guys are on about with the late bye thing. it's this week, r24 is 7 weeks away.

the reason i ask this is because i'm tossing up at the moment between bringing hodge into my team, or bringing travis cloke into my team. i think hodge has the edge just, because of playing the GC in r24.

Its funny how people say that they won't rest players because you want momentum and things like that. Yet the top 4 play for a week off.

Having a free win in the finals is a lot different to just resting for a week

Flirt with form the week before the finals? I don't think so. Manage their list in the 4 weeks leading into the finals? Quite possibly. I think the days of resting 4-5 guns in one game are gone though.

ah but did you heed your own prophecy and get in Cloke instead of Hodge?

This was always likely, not sure why people are all surprised.... I had hoped Franklin would have survived though

you betcha! and then subsequently chose NDS over hodge for the same reason. only franklin missing from my team this week (still gonna lose, but that's beside the point).

well i was wayyyy off...  though if hawks had to win to stay in top 4 they wouldnt have rested players
be interesting if it helps them when they play geelong next week
