I have Sandi, Cox, Smith, Moran and Pietrie as a Fwd.

Plan
- Cop a 0 this week with Cox out (League 1st v League 14th).
- Trade Smith for Lobbe next week (no need to do it this week as i expect Smith >Lobbe)
- Play Cox and Lobbe or Petrie till Sandi is back (depending of Fwd ins and outs).

I feel this will give me enough cash for my future trades and have a possible 'unique' in Sandi for the DT finals.

Is this something anyone else is considering? keeping the big 211?

Andrew

Geez that's a very interesting plan. The biggest problem with it is the doughnut copped this week, but really if you're concentrating on League, a top 4 finish will be fine (check your opponent coming up) but even top 8 isn't much of a disadvantage, the finals are very much a lottery similar to Eliminator.

So getting back to your Sandi plan, unless you've got a heap of trades (8 or more) which makes copping the doughnut and risking holding Sandilands unnecessary, it's a good plan holding Sandi. After the news that he didn't need surgery I decided to hold him because I've only got 4 trades but I also only cop 1 doughnut this week against a weak League opponent.

My preference if I had the trades would be to get rid of Sandi, but it's worth saving one on him if you're low on trades. Good point about Sandi being a unique come finals also.

Cheers Andrew...  I have 8 Trades but need them for other upgrades, removing Z. Smith (assuming a fit Sandi) was on those plans WELL INTO the DT finals to free up bench cash.

I think Lobbe has given all Sandi owners something to think about.  Just have to make sure the 'Charity Game' given to 'Bolts' (Brogan) will not effect the DT plans of Lobbe owners.

Note: only interested in DT Finals and playing a team i would have been every week this year bar one (and usually by 200-300).

Grazz

You are aware that Brogan is going to play the season out, it wasnt an immediate retirement from the big fella.

Hi guys I'm going for a league win and need trade advice. Should I trade out Sandi now, or cover him with Petrie in the ruck and add a premium forward?

Rucks: Sandi, Bailey, (Tippett, McCauley)
Forwards: Franklin, Fyfe, Goodes, Sylvia, Petrie, J.Roo, T.Lynch (C-Rich, Prestia, Mzungu)
8 trades, 300k in bank

Fenno

I know he isn't playing this round because of the bye but wouldn't you just go Sandi to Cox

Get goldstien in for Sandi

Yep, and swing Petrie into the rucks... Bailey has been going okay, but I wouldn't trust him to score 80+ every week. I'd probably bring in another forward premium (such as ROK or Pavlich) for J. Roo. Ideally that will leave you with 5 premiums in the forwards this week, and you'll still have 2 decent rookies on the field in Lynch and Mzungu. Other than that you're probably better off than me, as I have had Didak and Rioli as my 4th and 5th forward premiums all season :( Thankfully their my 6th and 7th now, so it's not hurting too much :(

Yeah, trading out J.Roo could be  good option, he hasn't had many scores over 75. I had Didak earlier in this season, and hes definitely been a dissapointment. I don't want Goldstein because he has a finals bye, I'm also considering Cox but it would put me at a disadvantage for this week, and I'm just inside the 8 in my league atm.

langej, glad you started this thread because i thought of this same plan today and i was gonna throw it open to the FF community for comment.

Currently ive got Sandilands, Cox, Smith, JTip/Petrie and im going for league glory only.

Im not gonna cop a zero this week (Smith and Petrie) or in the foreseeable weeks, therefore theres no need to trade sandi out. I will trade smith out for lobbe next week as hes not in my best team which frees up enough cash to use to finish my backs. I will have Sandi, Cox, Petrie and Lobbe to use over the next 10 rounds and a complete team by rd18 with 7 trades left.

for me, keeping sandi is a risk worth taking, hes a gun, weve held him for 4 weeks already, im in a good place in all my leagues, so another 4 is no biggie.

That's unfortunately disputable now. I don't think anyone can say with confidence Sandi will come back with a heap of confidence in this toe injury of his. Because of the re-injury, he could be longer than 4 weeks but I'm doubting that because Freo need him. In conclusion, I've got doubts Sandi will come back averaging 100+ like we expect him to usually... if I could bring in McEvoy or Leuenberger I would as I think they're going to average at least 20 points a game more when Sandi returns - Freo also have a tough run home. Also, you want to be playing Petrie in your forward line if you can.

Tricky one guys, but holding any player who's $380k for 4 weeks while he's injured and doubtful at this point of the season isn't preferable. But I'll do it to save my precious 4 trades.

The only problem with that is first week of the finals you lose both Goldstein and Petrie, might cause you some issues...

McEvoy has no finals bye, and is in great form. Given the Saints forward woes, when Gardiner does come back in he could be played as a tall forward leaving the ruck work to McEvoy. Hard to say whether Gardy will impact his scoring, but it looks pretty good to me.

bjay2308

i would say cox and then play bailey and petrie this week, but mcevoy is a good chioce. people have to stop worrying about gardiners potential effect because he redid his hammy last week so he wont even be playing vfl for at least another week and by the time he could make it back to the AFL there would be barely any games left and even then, with his age and injury past hed be lucky to get through a game

underdog11

How come at the start of the year when every was considering at dpp bench ruck no one considered Lobbe is only 12g more then tippet and Gold Coast have Fraser and Zac smith?
