Stadium update in Perth

State Cabinet has ticked off on a plan to build a sports stadium of at least 60,000 seats near the State Tennis Centre at Burswood at a cost of well under $1 billion.

Perth really needs a new stadium, I really hope this does actually, fully go ahead this time.

Will 60,000 be enough though? Especially when both Freo and WCE have over 40,000 members each?

I would love to see an 80k stadium but 60k will be enough for a while.  As long as it is built with the possibility to increase capacity later down the track

i dont think an 80k stadium would have ever been passed so 60k is much better than nothing. The eagles in particular will gain soo many members and i think they could go up to 50k easy.

Freo and WC will only be allowed to sell up to 54k memberships as AFL rules state that you must allow 10% of capacity be available for other purchases (walk ups, opposite team etc)

They are saying that this will be a 60k stadium with the ability to upgrade to 70k seats.

Great News. Hopefully this also gives the AFL more of a chance to play games during the WC if it ever comes to Aus.
