My SC year is virtually cactus! Had to waste too many trades to fix injuries and remove spuds. So time to plan for next year.
Here is my first draft, only 9 months left to get it sorted.

Flame away!!!

B : B.Goddard, J.Waite, L.Hodge, X.Ellis, A.Rance, C.Garland, M.Hurley [ P.Davis, J.Trengove ]
M : G.Ablett, A.Cooney, S.Burgoyne, R.Palmer, C.Ward, T.Scully [ S.Blease, J.Steven ]
R : D.Cox, D.Hille [ A.Cordy, M.Lobbe ]
F : N.Reiwoldt, J.Brennan, L.Franklin, C.Rioli, T.Cloke, R.Gamble, A.Maric [ T.Lynch, R. Tarrant ]

Don't like it to be honest...obviously it is so far away it is still hard to tell. Personally, I'm not going for the gun/rookie plan next year, but opting to start more mid-pricers, that way I have the option of upgrading or downgrading them early on if they don't perform. I've copped enough zero's off rookies not playing to learn my lesson. I plan on taking more risks and trusting my gut rather then letting stats/opinion persude me. IMHO I don't think Hille will come back in 'HMAC' fashion and dominate (you'd think Ryder will limit his points next year). For me, Cox and Sandi or Cox and Tippet/Kruzuer next year are the way to go.

Don't like: Rance, Garland, Hurley, Burgoyne, Hille, Buddy, Cloke, Gamble and Maric...some others are questionable.

But, just my opinion ;)

Good to see that people have learnt from this year...
(Goddard, Cox, Ablett, Riewoldt all starting)

2nd year cheapies generally aren't that much better than first year - Palmer (yes I know, but he didn't play in this season), Rance, Hurley - shouldn't be in your team IMO.

Reserves/bench players are crucial in your success, but these will have to wait to see

Waite, Hodge, Hille, Franklin, Rioli should/will all be cheap and good pickups for next year

Not sure how well Gamble, Maric, Cloke, Burgoyne, Cooney, Ward, Garland will do - there are probably better options instead

No rush though  ;D

Dolbey

Scully, if taken at #1 will be far too expensive.

S.Burgoyne will be a steal next year IMO, his poor start and consequent injury mean he should be priced around 420k to begin with. That's a bargain for a guy who in his previous 3 years averaged over 100 in SC.

I think most of us will continue to look for a value combo to go with Cox, it was HMac this year and I think Hille should fill that role nicely around the 320k mark. He will be cheaper than Kruezer and Tippett.

Rance, Garland and Hurley should all be improving defenders next year, who else could you say right now fits a similar mould to that of Sam Gilbert or Paul Duffield this year?

As a Hawks fan, I believe that we will re group and be a strong flag threat next year and Buddy will capture '08 form. While i haven't written the hawks off just yet, a preliminary final is about the furthest i can see us getting this year.

Perhaps Cloke is a no, I'd maybe swap him for Veszpremi if he shows something in the latter half of this season.

Gamble's scores will climb significantly, this depends on where Mooney is at. If Moons isn't around, get on Gamble.

Maric is one from left field, I think he is one of many in a young dees outfit that will keep getting better with game time.

Ward's breakout year is next year. Another great move from Richmond, trading the pick that secured Ward to the Dogs for Jordan McMahon.

You also need to remember that I put this list together in a realistic fashion in that it would fit a $10M cap.

Other names I'm keen to consider next year that I thik could be good value include: Dangerfield, Henderson, Prismall, Waters and Cotchin.

I'd pay 180k to have Scully in my side a a potential keeper.
Especially looking at the numbers he is churning out at 18s level.

I'm not sure Burgoyne will even be on the list this year? How old is he anyway, or is it P Burgoyne that is fairly old? But I like the look of Prismall, on my radar for next year- I'd go him instead of Burgoyne for sure.

On Franklin, I think that 2008 was possibly a one off year (dt/sc wise), teams pay him much more respect this year (trend will continue forever) and consequently he doesn't get as many possies. Franklin will kick many many more goals, but I think in a 'Fevola' fashion. Big score one week, shocking the next. I believe Buddy will maybe just become one of those 'big inconsistent scores', who relies too heavily on kicking goals to get big numbers. Remember, I said maybe...

Shaun is 27, Peter 31.
You might be right about Buddy, but most fantasy coaches will finding him too tempting at his starting price next year to not give him a go.

lol, u came onto this topic to write that. Well, if u did actually read what Hawks_1976 said, u will see that it is a very rough draft. Of course his team will change from that. It is never to early to think about next year!
