Hi All,

So first season doing DT and SC, very happy with how I've been going. This is what's looking like my final team, I've only got 6 trades left + $18,400 in the bank. Please let me know what you think and the more critical you are the better! (although some justification to your critique would also be greatly appreciated).

Backs:
B.Gibbs, B.Deledio, H.Shaw, C.Enright, B.Goddard, J.Adcock, G.Broughton (D.Stanley, J.Toy, D.Heppell)

Mids:
M.Boyds, G.Ablett, D.Swan, S.Pendlebury, S.Mitchell, A.Goodes  (M.Hibberd, T.Mzungu, B.Jacobs)

Rucks:
A.Sandilands, D.Cox (Z.Smith, J.Tippett)

Fwds:
L.Franklin, N.Riewoldt, M.Pavlich, R.O'Keefe, B.Harvey, C.Sylvia, D.Petrie (T.Lynch, J.Howe, A.Krakouer)

you shouldn't be playing a fwd premium in your mids, but that's forgiven as you're doing v. well for your first year.

ftr though, mpp mid/fwd or def/mid players shouldn't be played in the mid- they generally have higher scoring potential than pure fwds/ def, and subsequently should be played in those positions- having goodes instead of a premium mid is a loss of like 20-30 ppg.

kampf

Problem is...

Drew Petrie is outperforming my expectations and has locked himself in as a 7th FWD... thus leaving lil ole Goodes to be moved into the middle. I don't think it's really worth me burning a trade in order to lock in an extra 20 points per week (not right now anyway) thus why I've left him in (well I would surely trade out the lowest / worst performing mid/fwd DPP).

Thanks for pointing this out though as it is an area I can improve on :)

ANy more thoughts would be greatly appreciated,

Andrew

That midfield needs Marc Murphy if you're going for overall. Swapping Goodes with Krakouer and selling him for Murphy is definately your move - Murphy will kill it this week (Asst Coach projection 138!) but maybe waiting on Callinan to bubble after the multi-bye and selling him for Lynch is the way to get Murphy. Otherwise take a risk this week and do:

N. Riewoldt -> Callinan (Dahlhaus another option but I don't think he'll do your team much)
Krakouer -> Murphy

You'll be starting Goodes & Howe in your forward line with Lynch as EMG, and won't have an overstacked forward line. However, when you're going for overall 8 premium forwards is probably a good thing especially considering multi-byes, and I'm backing Riewoldt to average 80 from here on in... good luck.

I'll be interested to see what you ended up doin this week. In your position, you could do as andrew above suggested however i wouldnt be losing NRoo, but keep an extra M/F premium, almost every week you will have the 8th player on the field. Make some money on trading maybe hibberd or heppell to callinan, and then go Krakourer up to Murphy.

The only holes i can see are Adcock, because of his injury and uncertainty on how well he will do once back, Broughton because he is your only player averaging less than 80 and maybe NRoo, since he is in very average form. NRoo and Adcock you can deal with for now, Broughton I would get to Suckling in a few weeks after his bye.

kampf

I ended up doing the following trades:
Puopolo -> H.Shaw
D.Harris -> D.Swan

This week team stats / list:
Overall Rank: 147
Trades: 6
Bank $18,400

Backs:
B.Gibbs, B.Deledio, H.Shaw, C.Enright, B.Goddard, J.Adcock, G.Broughton (D.Stanley, J.Toy, D.Heppell)

Mids:
M.Boyd, G.Ablett, D.Swan, S.Pendlebury, S.Mitchell, A.Goodes  (M.Hibberd, T.Mzungu, B.Jacobs)

Rucks:
A.Sandilands, D.Cox (Z.Smith, J.Tippett)

Fwds:
L.Franklin, N.Riewoldt, M.Pavlich, R.O'Keefe, B.Harvey, C.Sylvia, D.Petrie (T.Lynch, J.Howe, A.Krakouer)

With Sandi re-inured I'll be looking at downgrading him to a rookie ruck who looks to get a few games, Z.smith + Cox will be my perm rucks with Petrie filling in when there's a gap.

Then with the insane amount of $$$ I'll have to blow, I'll be looking at trading out Hibberb and getting another Premium mid and possibly look at getting rid of Heppell and grab Fisher.

Thoughts?

Andrew

Great idea getting some 80k spud for Sandi and playing Smith all season, seeing as you've got Petrie to cover when you need to. This will give you alot of money and I think Hibberd -> Fisher is a logical trade in general terms, however will it improve your side? Getting another midfielder will imrpove your scoing more than Fisher will, however he does look the goods (as does Scotland don't forget him if you're going for overall).

I still think your mission is Operation Get Murphy.

danoz

^ Completely agree. Wow, i wish i was in your position... What a luxury being able to bring in an extra prem in each position.

Are you not going Scotland cos you will have too many Carlton players? In rd 23 even without any trades, you can put Murphy Gibbs and Scotland on the bench and still have a full team of prems. But i would def suggest getting scotland and Murphy as the last two.

kampf

THanks for the input guys :)

I think I've screwed myself this season by trying not to obtain too many players who have byes in the finals. I've been going for Overall + League wins all season, I think I should've purely focused on Overall which would've meant that I would've gone with Murphy + Scotland.

Getting in another prem mid will increase my overall score rather then upgrading to Fisher in the back - I think I'll do this first, might jump aboard the Murphy train, I'm hoping to have 3 trades left come finals time which would put me in good steed to trade out players with byes if the need arises.

So this week looks like Sandi -> Rookie (maybe even Loebbe! His JS surely should be a lot more with the retirement of brogan)  and most likely Hibberd -> Murphy.

Will leave me with 4 trades and enough cash to blow on another backline upgrade to Fisher. Team should be rock solid then leaving me with 3 trades.

Thoughts? Any other better options that I may be missing?

That's a big shame as Murphy & Scotland from early would've helped you in both League & Overall - they're too good!

If you really think you'll have enough cash doing those trades, then go ahead. But seeing as you've only got $18k at the moment, I'm thinking the money you raise from downgrading Sandilands will all be needed. Cash in fully and get someone 80.4k instead of $124k, Curnow from Port might be a chance with Brogan having announced his retirement but Clark has gone down if you want to get the Brisbane bloke.

Anyway, my point is that $44k is not to be sneezed at.

Keep your hopes high and go for overall - you'll win your League in the persuit of it anyway. But DT finals are an absolute lottery as some teams can upgrade to the best player for that particular week and pull out a score you weren't expecting. Concentrate on overall and get Murphy and maybe one of Birchall/Suckling if you don't want Scotland. Fisher scoring less than those 3 I think. But don't know why you're looking to upgrade with a defence of: B.Gibbs, B.Deledio, H.Shaw, C.Enright, B.Goddard, J.Adcock, G.Broughton

Leave a trade or two for the last few weeks as you may well need it for an injury...

You do realize 'Kampf' means Struggle or Battle?

And that's the name if Adolf Hitler's book......Mein Kampf....

kampf

Yes I do realise it as I am German lol.

Nothing wrong with that is there? I also use the Alias "Kaiser" quite often too namely from the greatest Football player of all time (yes proper FOOTball) - Franz Beckenbauer :)
