Ok here is my complete team with 6 trades remaining. Would like a few more but have found myself chasing overall a touch the last few weeks. But now is the time to sit tight and put my destiny in the hands if the DT Gods.

Backs -  Gibbs, Deledio, Goddard, Suckling, Shaw, Adcock, Heppel ( Stanley, Puopolo, Jacobs )

Mids - Swan, Pendles, Boyd, Ablett, Mitchell, Rockliff ( Libba, Hibberd, Mzungu )

Rucks - Cox, Smith ( Tippet, Keeffe)

Forwards - Franklin, Johnson, Sylvia, Fyfe, Reiwoldt, Goodes, Petrie ( Didak, Smith, Darling )

As you can see I have the extra forward in Didak.

I can see one future downgrade Smith to Callinan and one upgrade of Smith to Sandi but we shall see.

Let me know what you think of my team and whether you think I'm short on trades.

Thanks

Hi mate,
Great looking team â€" it’s sides like this that make me realise I will never catch up to the leaders from 709th position.
However, I also can’t see you gaining many more positions with this team.
Sorry but i think most other teams around your ranking will have also finished their teams by now and you don’t have too many uniques.
And you are short on trades in terms of keeping up, however not many Gee, NM, Car and Ess players means you won’t have to trade much in the closing rounds.
I also went for the extra forward (J Riewoldt instead of Didak) and plan to do the same downgrade of Rookie--->Callinan and Smith--->Sandi.

I agree with you that I probably can't catch the winner, however I think if it's ever possible this year will be it. This year has thrown up that your cover is more important than ever. The right decisions on your playing rookies could see ground made on the leaders. I also feel that my non unique team has probably got me to this position. But hence the problem of trying to make up the points.

Personally I don't feel I'm too short on trades. I loosely based my trading strategy on last years winning SC team. He had burnt most of his trades by a similar time. I think you have to be aggressive to win, along with alot of luck. The luck I need now to win is players I don't have having some time on the sidelines, while my players don't.

All up I'm happy with a very good overall finish and a possibility of a few league wins.

Thanks for your thoughts bud.

Round 14 score - 2198
Rank - 59
Trades remaining - 6

I made no trades last week but ive been contemplating a couple after the next multi bye round. My strategy as i said before is loosely based on last years super coach winner. That is trade hard and put your season in the hands of the DT gods.

So with all this in mind my plan.

Rd 16 - Libba to Callinan
              Puopolo to Duffield

Rd 17 - Didak to Brennan or someone equally unique

I have to make some points to make up so I'm going for broke.

What do you think?

I'm gaining on you kai :P (2227 this week and up to 487).

I don't really like Duffield I think there are better backs out there namely Fisher, Scotland and Enright. Getting Fisher in now and Callinan early could be a good move.

Also I think for a unique forward - how about Cloke? i was seriously considering him this week, but instead went Heppell-->Scotland (:D :D).

Or another spot where you can definitely make up ground is in the rucks - how about Smith-->Goldstein?

You've still got a few to go bud, try and catch me. Lol

Duffield is underrated. Averaging 93 accords im his last 5 and 90 over his last 3.

Cloke would be a good option. Not sure I will be able to afford him when the time comes. but I will look into him.

Not sold on goldy for the rest of the year. With H Mac to come back in soon his output may drop.

Fair enough, but as I said the rucks is one area you can make up ground with the right selection. With Sandi out, most people will just play Smith.

However, if you can find a ruck that scores 20-30 points more around than Smith then you will have the leg up on them.

H Mac won't be rushed back and Goldy is in great form. Otherwise i'm not sure who would be worth getting - Kreuzer or Burger? Maybe even Jolly once he returns or Nic Nat after his bye?

Ive had a bit more of a think, the more I think, the more I like the idea of the ruck upgrade. As im risking it all it is a very calculated risk. I'm going to go McEvoy. Averaging 122 from his last 3 and 108 from last 5. He should play out the season, I can't see Gardiner coming back or him getting dropped again. From what I remember seeing he is going great. What do you think?

Very risky indeed! Balls. You have them! Personally, I'd back Smith and Petrie to do the job

Thing is everyone else in the top 100 will probably have Cox, Smith and Petrie doing the rucking from now on.

Not many will have McEvoy or Goldy which will mean you can gain points here.

I think you have made the right choice kai - if I had the money I might consider McEvoy, but i'll have to stick with Smith for another week.
