I am in a similar boat - contemplating dropping Heppell this week as a midfielder thus losing my backline link. Also, now with Franklin out for a week it puts me in a bit of a situation...

12 trades left, $223K
backs:gibbs,shaw,deledio,enright,duigan,lower,otten(goddard,jacobs,puopolo)
Mids: swan,boyd,thompson,thomas,goodes,mzungu (jselwood,heppell,harris)
For: fyfe,pavlich,okeefe,bharvey,howe,ismith,prestia (franklin,nriewoldt,callinan)

My thoughts are to trade Heppell to Ablett and finally thinking of biting the bullet with Riewoldt and going to Sylvia. Works well as I get to keep Selwood cus after his suspension he could be a bit of a unique and would load my midfield and allow me to move goodes into the forward line thus loading my forward line!
Last move in the near future looks like trading for Fisher and that could seal my team pending any LTI's and give me 8-9 trades going into the finals (if i need to double trade to get fisher)

Does this sound like a good idea? Is it worth losing my back DPP link?

Ok, Zip, here's where I'm at.  I have $210,400 in the bank and I have 8 trades left.  I'll be upgrading Lower to Shaw and Matera to Sylvia this week, and that will leave me with 6 trades and $15,200 with basically a complete team.  I say basically because the only player left that could be upgraded is Yarran, and he will most likely have to go by the time the Blues have their bye anyway.  My question to you is should I upgrade him as soon as I can, or wait until just before the Blues' bye to upgrade him thus saving my trades?  The way I'd upgrade him is to probably MPP Hibberd into the mids via Jacobs and downgrade him to Callinan (Hibberd has the GF bye, so I won't need him then assuming I make it), then upgrade Yarran.  Below is my team at full strength (remember Lower = Shaw and Matera = Sylvia), and obviously just gunning for league win now.

why not harris to ablett? you keep your dpp link this way, can you make the trade? if you just can't afford it, you can defs go harris to pendles.

I wouldn't personally be looking to trade voldt to sylvia- after this week riewoldt has no byes left. Seems a bit unnecessary + wasteful... I would only do it if you were still in eliminator.

what about upgrading yarran to someone like cloke/brennan/didak who have no more byes left? That would be a quick fix solution. Considering you're gunning for league though, not really necessary. Just keep an eye out for a high class fwd premo to have a poor game, then swoop whenever- preferably after their second bye though.

Chelskiman

Ideally Fyfe would fit into my forwards perfectly, so I'll keep an eye on him in the coming weeks.  Yarran has been ok for me this year.  Obviously not a premium, but he won me my crucial game last round with his 77 that got me over the line by nine points.  I have a pretty decent fixture run coming up too, so he should be able to do the job for me during that period.

Well I can avoid the Voldt trade, but don't have enough cash to go Harris --> Ablett...Is having 3 Pies in the mids too much? I know they have no more byes, but could some of them be rested towards the end of the season?
You just don't think the Heppell --> Ablett trade is worth it? If it loses my DPP?

Ziplock

I don't think it's worth the loss of the dpp. 3 pies isn't too much- there's almost 0 chance all three would be rested at the end of the season, by having 3 pie guns in your mids, you can be assured at least 2 of them will play every finals game.

Chelskiman

Zip, thinking about this a bit more, would it actually be better to go Broughton > Shaw and keep Lower as a 7th back, or not?  It's just with Broughton it's either one hell of a score or a really shower score.  At least Lower is a bit more consistent in his 73 average.  Decisions, decisions...

Ahh the joys of Dream Team....this is why we play it!
Oh and I like your thinking with keeping Lower as he seems to be playing follower a bit these days...and with Broughton's up and down scores...Do we still class his as a premo with an average of 76?

Ziplock

I dropped broughts long ago. Personally, I place him in the same class as hargrave last year.

If you have the trades, offloading him would be a good move imo.

Although, I find it odd, I was pretty sure mundy's injury was going to secure him midfield time.

Chelskiman

I have 8 trades, and after my double upgrade this week I'll have 6 left for the year, with two of those possibly to upgrade Yarran, which would then leave me 4.

Ziplock

that may be enough for league- you only have 3 out in the finals, and you might even be able to dodge the geelong bye. So, that leaves you with between 1 and 3 trades for LTI's.

that's enough imo.

Hey Zip! I'm looking at upgrading Knights to Sylvia this week, which is all good!

But i'm also looking at trading Heppell out before he bleeds too much cash! After I upgrade to Sylvia, I will have exactly 320k left for the Heppell trade...

I have had a look at my options for around that price mark, and am looking at maybe Mackie, Johncock or Gram...

My current back line is:

Gibbs, Delidio, Suckling, Shaw, Enright Heppell, Hibberd (Goddard, Puopolo, Howard)

I was thinking maybe just doing the Sylvia trade, then possibly doing a downgrade/upgrade the week after and get a true premium for Heppell the week after? I only have 6 trades remaining and my team is pretty much complete!

Thanks for your help Zip!

if you have that much cash left, the little heppell leaks this week (if he's named) won't affect you too much, esp. if you're team is nearly complete. Upgrade to someone like fisher next round? (after stk bye)

Memphistopheles

Hi Zip,

I want to upgrade Knights this week, but I don't want Sylvia or another player from Fre, Melb or Ade.

This is because Pav, Mzungu, Howe will already be missing in the multi-bye round and I don't want to have to rely on Prestia playing to avoid a doughnut.

I also don't want a Syd, Rich or Bris player for similar reasons.

I am going for overall- not necessarily to win the car, but I have a bet with a mate and it's to do with overall score not winning our league.

The cheaper options are Cloke, Rioli, Brennan and Higgins. This means I won't have to make an extra trade (8 left).

The more expensive options are Stevie J, Harvey, LeCras. In the scheme of things getting one of these three means I will have to make another downgrade at some point (maybe not now, but definitely when i make my last defender upgrade).

Who would you choose and why?
