Hard to say when Buckley has not coached yet  (as in senior) nor has Hirdy.

Hird and Voss are well clear of Buckley.  He was a great player but not in the class of the other 2.

No one is in the class of the kid from Canberra!

Madness, those three are on par with each other!

valkorum

No way are they on par with each other.  Voss and Hird both could turn a game by themselves, Buckley was a fantastic player but I dont think he was a gamewinner in the same class as Hird/Voss.

I rate Buckley in the same category as Robert Harvey (although Harves has the edge because of more Brownlow wins :P).  Both fantastic players but didnt win games off their own boot.

Buckley didn't win games for Collingwood? I think you'll struggle to find people who agree with you there!

Fair to say that Hird and Voss had better personel around them for most of Buckley's career, so they are involved in more wins.

If Buckley had been in Brisbane his career, and Voss at Collingwood, I doubt the results of both clubs would have been much different. Hird is a slightly different player so can't say the same thing.

I agree with ossie when I but my bias towards Essendon behind me. Buckley won a lot of game for the Pies and never let them down. I also think although maybe 1 sep down from these guys Ricciuto and Kouta are up there as well.

Dont take it the wrong way Ossie - Bucks was a fantastic player and I am not denying that fact.  Hird and Voss just had that ability to go - ok, time to win this game.  They stepped up and dragged their team across the line.

Buckley was always working his ass off week in/week out, but couldnt grab the game by the horns like Hird/Voss did.

That being said, my mate and I did a best 22 the other week of players we have seen play and we both agreed that Buckley had to be in the squad :)

Ricciuto I rate up there as well but not Kouta.  He had a couple of good years for the blues where he was absoluting destroying teams and anyone in his path, but consistancy over his career - I dont think so.

Alex7089

Yeah but Kouta at his best was unstoppable. Agreed that Hird and Voss just stood up and won games when it was required but I think that Bucks did as well, maybe not as much because the pies didn't win as much but still a lot.

Agree with that, Kouta didn't have as many great seasons as the others.

I have no problem with people rating Hird and Voss over Buckley, I just don't think the difference is huge.

I've seen too many massive games from Buckley to say that he isn't a match-winner. And I have all three in my team of the decade!

MissPiesFF

You can not determine the outcome of who is better than who in this situation.

valkorum

Yes you can

Hird
Voss
Buckley

In that order :)

Maca24

haha my topic is still being debated a year later!!

ELLsendon

a year later.
