And if you replayed that quarter you would probably find that all those free kicks were there. I have found that in most cases, it's not the free kicks your opponent gets, but the ones YOU DON'T get that hurts.
Having said that, all things considered, it was a great game.
I felt sorry for Roughy. You will miss him.

EVIDENCE from Hawthorn’s Brent Guerra
That evidence was a medical report you muppet! They are required to submit one by the match review panel. From that they seek interviews with the involved players that they are required to take part in.

Medical report was it loser ... "The panel relied on testimony supplied by Guerra as well as video evidence and a medical report from Hawthorn in reaching their decision" .. but good on for being faithful and supporting your squealing players

I agree totally. I didn't feel aggrieved by the free kicks given, but the ones that were missed. There was a lack of consistency with the umps in that match, which was understandable to a point given how dewy it was and how scrappy things were as a result, but it just seems like whenever the coin flipped it came up whiskers every time.

Lost Young early, one of our long left foot kicks of half back. Renouf was badly hit and wouldn't have come back on if it wasn't for Roughy also going out and Guerra, another of our long raking kicks off half back, out as well.

We didn't play particularly well for long patches of the game so it isn't entirely the fault of the final decision, however there is no denying that it was a free kick to the very letter of the law and is almost always paid. There is also no denying that Buddy would normally kick them from there.

Ultimately it is just 4 points and Cats fans should feel a little lucky. What will matter is when it happens again in September.

I am pretty sure I mentioned the interview. What is he going to say, "I know the video shows him hitting me and me falling to the ground and the medical report shows that my ear drum is perforated but he actually didn't hit me."

I don't see how you are supporting Selwood. It was a dog act and not something you want to see anyone doing ever, footy field or otherwise.

If you don't feel aggrieved by the frees given why mention them .. ?
The umps are always inconsistent but they've got a tough job and there's no point worrying about them .. and it all evens up in the end .. surely you don't think we've just been lucky to win the last 6 in a row against you ? .. no credit for coming back off the floor when down at 3/4 time ? .. no resilience shown by us ? .. no admiration for what we went through last year and how we've answered the critics ?

I greatly admire Hawthorn but give credit where credit's due and I'm sick of hearing how unlucky you are 6 times in a row and how the umps have robbed you six times in a row

I'm not supporting Selwood, he's got 3 weeks and I'm not complaining about that .. do the crime blah blah !

You misunderstand. It is not the 13 free kicks given that I feel aggrieved by, it is the free kicks not given that lead to a tally of one.

It is also fair to say that the umps are often pretty consistent and it doesn't always even up in the end. You are right in worrying about it doing nothing, but in the same vain so does not worrying about it, and at least one we the fans get to vent.

There is no doubt, the Cats have done something amazing against the Hawks. In the previous 5 matches, most of which the Cats have come from behind, I have walked away thinking what a great game, but mostly amazed at how the Cats did it again. Normally it is Bartel too.

This match was different. I came away thinking it was an amazing match, but I also came away thinking that you couldn't solely attribute the result based on either teams performance. I have been at every match between the two clubs since the start of 2008 and I have never seen the conclusion of the match end with fans booing the umps (I have at other matches but not Hawks v Cats) and a general feeling of being cheated amongst the Hawks fans. This week there was.

Taking a fairly big whack at a victim then.

Milton your a fkn goose mate. Geelong are and have being the umpires favourites for years and you can ask any supporter from any club and they will say the same. U guys have already being very lucky to win against us and the pies so we will just have to wait till sept and see how many free kicks buddy doesnt get ha u muppet

bunyip

Selwood had a brain fade alright and now must pay the price. I don't feel sorry for Guera though. He used to be an annoying little pest, and grasped any opportunity to hurt other players. The fact is though, Selwood should have ignored him. There are a few fans from other clubs though that have long memories, and would have enjoyed Brent copping it.
Having said that, Joel has let the team down.
As for that free kick for Buddy, it was definately there. Buddy clearly played for it though. The contact in his back was not nearly enough to push him over, it was a clear case of staging for a free and I think thats why the umpy didn't pay it. It would be a brave umpy who would give a dodgy free kick in front of goal that would effect the result. It has happened obviously, and the media play it all week.
So.....i see you guys play GC next week............

Too much whining already. If a team does not score a single behind in the last quarter you can't possibly claim to be unlucky, full stop, end of discussion.

The Hawks should stop bleating, it was a top game (best this year so far), the best team won and any negativity should be focussed on poor Roughy. That is a blow.

I tell you what Hale would want to step up now, this is was he was recruited for, cometh the hour, cometh the man ????

It was a top game .. as usual .. tight, hard and uncompromising and a credit to both sides .. those last few minutes were very tough and stressful ... but what happened to giving credit where credit's due .. barrack hard for sure but after it's over accept a loss, shake hands and move on .. and don't whine about the umpires or squeal on opposing players

You're right about Roughy .. big blow for him, he had found his niche and the Hawks will miss him big time

Hawkahh

Fair enough milton ignore my last comment haha just pretty pissed off haha hopefully bruce and hale can step up and we can watch another blinder like this in sept.

Selwood deserved what he got whatever way u look at it and with a perforated eardrum u have to expect it.
