I find it hard to believe that Mick won't be tempted to go to another club next season, unless he has a signed agreement with Collingwood stopping him from coaching for a few seasons.
St.Kilda, Melbourne and Footscray immediately come to mind. What do you guys think?

He does have a signed agreement with Collingwood for 2012-14.

I don't imagine he will go back to the Dogs, that is very much a rarity. Though probably entirely different people now since Mick last coaches the Doggies.

Saints and Dees are more likely as you say. But Lyon and Bailey have improved their chances of renewal of late.

If he was willing to interstate (which I think he isn't), Adelaide and Brisbane spring to mind.

Hey, he could replace Clarkson or Ratten if either of the Hawks/Blues crash and burn....

There is always a Bomber Thompson style role he could take on, not necessarily as a coaching mentor but as a senior assistant who would work with a high degree of freedom.

for a smart guy i find it hard to believe he doesnt know when to admit he made a mistake, apologize and move on :-X

PowerBug

Talking about the Maric cheating incident? He was correct about that. Not saying everybody doesn't do it, but it is cheating.

And the Milne thing was heat-of-the-moment. The lying was VERY, VERY stupid. What I find weird about that is the amount of outrage it caused. Sure it was an incredibly stupid thing to call someone a rapist, but at least that insult is directly at that person. Milne's slur against homosexuality that caused the whole incident was directed at a whole group of people, and nobody gives 2 hoots about it.

To be honest it comes down to expectations. People wouldn't expect any better from Milne. They would from Mick.

As for cheating... No it isn't. There isn't a rule that says you can't do it. Is it within the spirit of the game? Questionable at best, most would probably prefer it isn't in the game though.

Cheating, accusations of rape, homophobia - all diversions to the fact that the only club the MM will be working with in 2012 is Collingwood!

Beyond that I think things may change but he'd be mad to move straight to another club next year without at least one year away from Senior coaching. I just don't think he will.

hawk_88

I'm not sure he'd be mad. It has to come down to what he feels. If he feels fatigue and wants a rest I am sure he would take it and possibly stay at Collingwood if the appropriate role was found for him.

He has said before that he wants to be useful. I personally think he still had the fire in the belly to coach and that won't be satisfied at Collingwood under Buckley.

bunyip

I agree Hawk, the deal with Collingwood was a compromise forced onto him. It was either take that job or resign immediately. Thats how it works these days. if another club throws a lot of money at him, contract or not, he will be tempted.

Cruiseon

I just don't think at this stage of his career, and as the reigning Premiership coach that money is going to be a motivating factor. A challenge yes, but I dont think that will be in 2012.

Master Q

What did Eddie have against Mick in the first place? He is by far the best coach at the moment. Rubbish move I say.

hawk_88

It is really only an question he can answer. Anything else is just speculation.

Will any of us understand what he says? The tangents he goes off on at Press conferences are often quite bemusing  ::)
