Thanks for the advice.

I am pretty keen on getting Boomer. I agree with the Darling being nice cover thing too.

A few people have mentioned potentially going Swan > Ablett to catch up 100+ points then bring him back in for Mundy/Priddis on their second bye week but im not sure that would work out for the better....

The smartest thing to do this week seems to be trade Harvey in for Lynch and sit on 9 trades for a few weeks.

Not a bad idea with the backline upgrade, probably look to do Hibberd if possible for maybe Scotland? Who should be able to cover both mid and backline.

Hopefully I can start pushing up the ranks now!

Had a think about it, and if you have the money to get boomer (from darling) and ablett for swan (double check my maths haha), then do it. Swan will be out for 2 weeks so you will potentially gain 200 points over 2 weeks for 100k upgrade.
In a normal season, 200 points is around a 10 point per round increase which is not bad, but probably not worth the trade. However, the idea that ablett will probably outscore swan for the rest of year makes me think that it will be worth the trade.

Once again, it is risk that you should probably take. At the end of the day, you have 8 trades to spend on injuries, and If swan isn't the most important injury in this game (strategically), then I don't know what is.

Keep in mind you will need a backline premium and you will need forward cover. At this point in time, upgrading lynch to didak in 2 rounds time could be a winning move as he can be an MPP cover.

That will leave you with either 6 or 7 trades. You will need a back premium too, leaving you with 4 or 5 trades.

In round 22 to get rid of geelong players, you will need 2 trades. That leaves 2 or 3 for injuries.

Sure it looks bad, but remember last year the winner had no trades for the last 5 or so rounds.

Darling > Boomer, Swan > Ablett (check the maths) andddd you have the thumbs up from me :)

Hope you kill it this round dude!!!!

PS I wouldn't trade swan back in, I highly doubt it will be worth it as swan surely won't average 10 more than any of your other midfielders, meaning it will not be worth the trouble...

What do you think Ablett will average for the remaining of the year?

What do you think Swan will average for the remaining of the year?

What do you think the individual used for covering Swan will average during this period?

PiggyPommy

This week is giving me a headache! Great advice from you both though I might name you assistant coaches haha!

ANOTHER option is upgrade both Lower AND Darling.

Spite

Oh man that is tough!

darling to Boomer and Lower to carrazzo for MPP cover? The only problem is that he isn't that great... and you can't afford scotland or fisher etc...

Exactly right.

Ablett avg 115, Swan average 107. 8 ppg for rest of the season =  104 points

Darling to cover for swan via mpp forward moved to mid = 80 points.

However I honestly feel Swan will average low 100's for the rest of the year anyway...

That being said, Carrazzo in for lower and you have mid/back cover averaging low 90's for the rest of the year.

You will be missing forward cover however lynch to didak with remaining money works out for mpp forward cover too...

The final however, if Buddy was to miss out this week through injury, you would have to play Lynch which could be a loss of 40 points from darling's cover. So many things going on!!!

Haha Goodluck PiggyPommy, reckon it's a make or break round for you!!!

Spite

Hmmm darling > Boomer and Lower > Carrazzo

Saves a trade from swan and you play carrazzo when carlton plays crappy teams the next few weeks...

Then you have back cover set and can set forward cover with remaining ~55k with one final trade from lynch...

Leaves 7 trades from injuries... I still don't know!!! Just throwing ideas around haha

PiggyPommy

Haha very true mate.

What about this one.

Lower > Scotland

Darling > N Roo

Then if required in a couple of weeks look to move on Lynch > Mzungu, Alex Johnson and Mzungu between them can work out F8 and it leaves me with Heppell as an M7/D8 and plenty of other cover around with 8 trades left.

Or, Lower > Broughton

A Johnson > Boomer

That allows me to have Darling as F8.

I agree its make or break round, or that these trades certainly will have a massive impact.

charliesheen

my practical suggestion is

List the top 7 forwards this year and write them down.

Then write what you think each will average.  I see chappy averaging a lot more than Boomer and at 430k its too hard to pass up.

Im not even sure I would have Nroo in that list.

Forget about byes altogether, choose the best available, and sideways around it when the time comes.

PiggyPommy

I like your suggestion too mate. Im not sold on Gilbert though but the MPP cover is great.

N Roo needs to lift by about 5-10 ppg for me to be happy with the selection. Can he do it? I think he can with the Saints draw and them starting to slowly switch on.

The question is whether it is worth trading N Roo now or....

I do the following.

Lower > Scotland
Lynch > Mzungu

Next week A Johnson > Any forward I want. That means I can watch everybody this week, some of whom have reasonably high B/E's and bring the best available in. It may well be N Roo after the Saints bye with that run home, it may be Chappy if I believe he can be injury free or it may be Harvey or another. I will have a week to think about it.

Thoughts?

charliesheen

tags could potentially be out for 3 weeks mate.

thats not tags, thats not hayes, those are pretty big outs, its like the core of their midfield.

Honestly look at the statistics over the years between fisher and gilbert they are not that different.  Go for the POD, I would not be recommending if I didn't think it was a risk worth taking.

If Chappy does in fact eventually 'chappy it up', you are potentially losing already 10-20 ppg from not having him.

these are the type of risks you need to be taking IMO.  the fact that you are buying chappy for 430k, the benefits outweigh the risks by far.... where everyone else got him for 530k...

PiggyPommy

If he does yes...

He has far from set the world on fire and is fairly injury prone. However I agree I do need to get him in.

Scotland will be the #1 back this year in SC scores you agree?

To win the prize I need him in, and Chappy to complete the forward line after this week, then sideways around the Catters bye. Agree with you there.

charliesheen

can you afford both chappy and scotland?

and then potentially mzungu and didak the following rounds?

PiggyPommy

I can do the following yes.

Lower > Scotland

Lynch > Mzungu

Next week

A Johnson > Chapman

7 trades left and a bit of cash over, 30k or something. Completed team and reel in the leaders!
