So... im going quite well so far but looking for some advice on what could be a very big move this week or non move.

Backs: Lids, Newman, Gibbs, Enright, Goddard, H Shaw, Heppell (Lower, Jacobs, Hibberd)

Mids: Swan, Selwood, Bartel, Mundy, Priddis, Harris (Bewick, Buckley, I Smith)

Rucks: Cox, Sandi (Smith, Keffee)

Forwards: Pavlich, Franklin, S Johnson, Sylvia, Goodes, J Roo, Darling (Lynch, A Johnson, Richardson)

12 trades, 20k in the bank.

This week I am considering two options right now, you may have other ideas which I am more than willing to hear out...

1. Trade Sandilands to one of the two rucks who have played two games and using that mass of cash trade Buckley > Judd/Thommo and next week A Johnson > Harvey/Chappy leaving 9 trades for the rest of the season and no Sandilands, but the side is finished off quickly and I can brgin catching up and reeling in the leaders.

2. Hold off for a week and look to slowly bring players in. Which may mean I make slower progress but those trades may be like gold.

Two approaches. One burns trades but gets the points on the board quicker.

Few things to consider, Sandilands bye also, he may not return as good, Smith is a gun.

This move shapes my season. Have got a lot of conflicting thoughts right now, any advice very much appreciated.

Thanks

Ringo

The thing that concerns me most with Smith he is still only 20 and may fall to injury or general soreness.  Bit much to ask to Ruck all year especially when they have Fraser, Gorringe and Tippett who is yet to play as cover.  I would sit tight with rucks and see how Sandi comes back. If he does not then I would sideways a trade to Mummy, Ottens or another top Ruck.  Personally with Smith I will be downgrading him to Tippett and using his DPP with Petrie.  Will be doing this when he maxes out in 2/3 weeks.
So to answer your question sit for a week or two and slowly bring prems in using downgrade,  One Mid on bubble this week if named is Josh Green who has a negative B/e so  may be worth a downgrade to gain cash.  Like his JS for 4/6 weeks given the Lions injury woes in mid (Rockliff, Polec, Staker)

PiggyPommy

Thanks Ringo food for thought. Anybody else with any ideas?

Marstar

You only really have 4 trades left to round out 22 Keepers (i assume Heppel is a keeper). That will therefore leave you with 8 trades to manage injuries and go sideways on the last couple rounds if you get withing reach of 1st overall e.g Selwood, S.Johnson, Enright & Bartel on bench round 22 won't get you over the line without going sideways.

If you sell Sandi, then buy him back, that's 2 more burnt. Leaving you with 6.

I should get Mzungu in this week. Personally i'de trade him for Bewick.

Who to upgrade depends purely on who you want. i.e. if you want Pendles, then you'de probably wait till his bye. If you want Hodge then it's a coin toss to wait for bye or get now to complete your midfield.

There's also an upgrade on the forward line to be made. That can probably wait till later in the year IMO. Just so you can see who's on fire and who's being rested for finals.

PiggyPommy

Thanks Marstar.

Thats my dilemma mate, I can do those two upgrades with 3 trades if I trade Sandilands and have 9 trades left for sideways.

A further option is to trade down Sandilands this week, upgrade Buckley to Thommo/Judd/whoever and then hold the cash to upgrade Smith to Sandilands when the time comes and he is back all good. Smith will get a lot closer to him and probably leave me a touch more cash to do another upgrade eventually when A Johnson makes enough money.

Then of course the question is, if I sell Sandi will I need to buy him back? Nobody has a crystal ball but you would think so...

Doing it the Sandi ways leaves Lower, Harro and Darling on the bench who can cover players and still get a 75+ score rather than other rookies. If I upgrade one of those then it leaves less cover on the bench.

Decisions, decisions...

Really the only thing you can do is 'sit' or do the ruck trade to facilitate all your upgrades.  There are not a lot of rookie downgrades that really interest me.

If I was in your position, I would take the punt, and do the trade.

Note, I am not the most conservative person when it comes to trading.

PiggyPommy

If I do it and win the 50k, everybody in this thread gets a beer! Haha.

I have to take a risk and this could be the one that pays off big time, or blows up big time.....

Spite

Honestly, you will probably never be in this position again. It's now or never. I would do the trade because without it, there is no way you can catch first place. None. Atleast this gives you an opportunity!

j959

i agree with the tiger and the way you're leaning - you should take the punt.
conventional thinking and recent winners have taken the risk and set their team as early as possible, risking little or no trades for injuries/doughnuts later in the season.

I think Z Smith is pretty solid esp for SC (less so for DT) so I vote for the trading out of Sandi - 3-4 more wks out is significant time and you don't know how good he's going to be coming back ...

don't forget to sing the praises of the FF community if you win!!!  ;)

PiggyPommy

Very very true. Thanks for fully convincing me, I was at about 85% convinced but you've pushed that to 100%!

Now, Thompson or Judd? Or GAJ as the mid upgrade this week?

Looking at Thompson although I do rate Judd not having a bye til very late, he can be sideways of course at that stage if im still in with a chance.

tom_scully

I'd go with Mzungu this week if I was you and would not get either Chappy or Thommo. If you get Thompson, you need to cover 2 mid and 2 fwd premos in rnd 16, if you get chappy - same scenario rnd 22. As it stands your fwd coverage during rnd 19 is also looking shaky - relying on I smith (general soreness after 2 games) and lynch (GC rotation policy) - at a time when newmo & lids will be out in the back. These rounds could kill your overall if you are not careful. Best of luck.

PiggyPommy

I will be getting Boomer not Chappy mate.

And yeah good point about Thommo, didn't really look into those byes too much might have to be Judd..

PiggyPommy

A Johnson > Boomer so will take away the problems in Round 19 mate. Will only need to cover J Roo and Goodes with Darling, Lynch and Richo on the pine.

js19

Can't really offer advice above what others have, but putting my hat in the ring for the free beer... ;D

PiggyPommy

Sure mate ;)

Im sure I can shout a slab or three for the FF boys to share if the Pigs get over the line!

I will use this thread to keep you all updated on my scores etc. Still torn on Judd/Boyd/Murphy/Thommo.

Boyd has been awesome so far this season.
