I think most people will be looking to offload Libba/Harris/Swallow this week. Thought I'd start a thread for the two best suited upgrade targets in SC in terms of going for the league win.

Scott Thompson- $500k after this week
Has had a truly magnificent season to date, with an average of around 120, take out the horrible 61 against Melbourne (cotton balled early in the 3rd) he is up there with the likes of Pendles and Judd.
He wins his own ball, gets a stack of clearances and is tough as nails. Also is very durable (missed just 4 games in 5 years)
Plus, his next bye is a non league week!

Matt Priddis- 515k after this week
Has elevated himself into premium status this year with some huge scores, but most importantly has been super consistent with his lowest score a 91. Has got a good run coming up (GC Adel and Port) downside is he has a league bye in rd 15 and he has had injury issues in the past few years missing 9 games in the past 4 years.

Summation- for me it's Thompson, has a great run come finals and the non league bye is golden, would be happy with either or tbh but Thompsons durability is the selling point.
Would love to know peoples thoughts

I think 500k for S. Thompson has lost some of its shine.  I think the value was when he was at 470k, or even 440k.

If I had to choose between those 2, probably Priddis, just because I don't like choosing midfielders from bottom 8 teams.

Saw Priddis today and I thought his SC score was inflated to be honest

He handballs alot and not a very damaging kick

I dumped Higgins for Thompson this week.  Won me my league matches so I recommend him !

tbh money is not an issue, under my current plan i still have 70k up my sleeve.
looking at getting in mundy swan thompson/priddis in coming weeks, i have a 400k war chest at my disposal, exciting times for upgrades!

ok but hand balling is a good thing in the SC scoring system, i think both Thompson and Priddis handball a lot! But it doesn't really matter when he's getting 8-10 clearances a game and a few tackles too..

I think the issue with Thompson is that he has burnt people in the past, and really only averaged once over 100 in his career .

I think even last year Priddis was pretty damn consistent, so there should be improvement in him from last year, especially with Cox/Nata giving him the tapouts.

I think its really personal preference, you could make a case either one.  Would rather priddis out of those 2, simply because I don't like choosing premium mids from the bottom teams, Gablett being the exception though.

yeah your right, that has been my golden rule in the past with premiums, i have always chosen from hawhorn collingwood dogs saints geelong for the mids. im staying well away from GAJ purely due to his injury issues and the lack of genuine support around him in the mids.
it's a tough call, priddis does have a good run in the next 3 weeks too.
8-1 in the votes atm to thompson, keep them coming guys

It seems like Priddis is playing like Cross has the last couple of seasons. A lot of handballs, but gets a lot of contested possessions and gets high SC scores.

Priddis for me.

Does anyone have a view on Mundy versus Priddis?

ajjewell

I went Priddis over Mundy last week mainly for the fact that I had no one from the eagles and 3 from freo, that was the only thing that split them for me

cortez

West coast will be challenging for the 8 all season. Adelaide won't be. The thing that splits them for me is the fact priddas will have something to play for at the end of the year and Thompson won't

PiggyPommy

Interesting thoughts.

And what of Hodge, Judd, Boyd instead of those two options?

cortez

Hodge is in there too. Will kill it second half of the year. Judd has bye in finals and that my big rule. Noone playing finals unless your in a good position for overall. And I'd take boyd but after my trades I'll be 2k short lol. For me prob hodge or priddas. And prob go priddas basically cause i already havoc Franklin and Rioli.

For me, also going for league win, I'm going Priddis over Thompson. Purely because in the first week of the finals West Coast has Melbourne while the Crows have Geelong. Need to win the first final so that I don't have to worry about covering my cats so I don't want Thompson going missing under a Ling tag or by the Cats players stealing the large share of the 3300. West Coast also have the better opponents in rounds 23 + 24. Coin toss though really.
