Here is a thread for our Nat Assistants and Managers to follow NT Friendly matches or post comment, progress scores, squads or anything else pertaining to the above topic.

8-6 Suited

Today's friendly sees Australia take on the Irish. I have taken charge of this one in order to play a young side, fielding an U24 squad against what is expected to be around a somewhat normal Irish squad who tristanpan is taking the reigns on. He has stated he will try get around 25yo or so for it but it doesn't bother me if he fields a stronger side.

The intention is to see how our youngsters do in the pressure games regardless of the strength. Performing in such games will increase the chances of the players to make the NT squad in the future, be it near or a little bit ahead of time for Tours to gain some more experience. We also add several current stars//touring youngsters for a bit of stability in the order.

Our squad is the following:

Noah John 24
Glenn Archer (c) 24
Ernest Holman 24
Callum Ferguson 23
Chris Carlton 24
Rusty Theron - RFM 24
Alfred Trumper (wk) 24
David Cooper - LFM 23
Chris Dwyer - RFS 24
Darren O'Keeffe - RWS 24
Michael Coleman - LM 23

With some luck, it should make for a fantastic match.

It should be an interesting time off the pitch too today between The Green and Gold Army and The Blarney Army , the respective official fan clubs.

Archer has called tails and lost the toss. Collins ponders for a moment before deciding to bowl first. Australia will start their innings shortly.

The weather for the match is expected to be Humid and the groundsmen have prepared a Crumbling pitch. Conditions look ideal for the spinners, ideal for the seam bowlers.

Lost the toss, not the way I had wanted it to go but it should still be fine.

Fletch and I should be facing off in a match soon...

As will I vs Fletch in an U24 friendly. I tend to enjoy my U24's. :P

Hard to do with one friendly that I can get after every tour. We can however keep track of them though.

You only get 1 friendly per tour?

Well typical the other 2 friendlies will be for those bordering the squad for the upcoming tour. That way we get a couple games in them to see how they go. So generally, I get the first friendly after a tour.

I see.

Doesn't mean I only have control of the 1 friendly, its just the others have a purpose so they aren't for fun or enjoyment. We play an older squad with the younger borderline players just as we would in a tour week to see how they perform.

28.1   W   O'Mahony to Archer : Short of a good length delivery on the stumps, Archer makes room and takes a swing. The ball clips the top edge and balloons up to mid-on.
G. Archer c D. Gilmour b. R. O'Mahony 51 (80b 7x4 0x6) SR:63.75

Great knock by Archer up the top of the order. Unfortunately, the break for drinks changed the momentum.

End of over 29 (2 runs) - Australia(119-2) RR 4.10
E. Holman 37 (53b) , C. Ferguson 0 (0b) , R. O'Mahony 5-0-12-1

    End of over 41 (7 runs) - Australia(178-3) RR 4.34
C. Carlton 20 (24b) , C. Ferguson 35 (40b) , D. Gilmour 6-1-26-0

So far, all comers to the crease have performed well. Carlton on Aggressive orders seems to be very.... timid lol :D
