So last week I asked for assistance and brought in Mundy.  This week my risks will have a few naysayers.

Trade 1:  Tapscott --> Mzungu

Easy, no problems here.

Trade 2:  Heppell --> ?

Now I know what you're going to say, Heppell's a keeper.  Nope, he's a cash cow with a bye who has peaked is what I believe.  I have been ruthless this year with my rooks, chopping them at the time is ripe.  I am going for overall, and with my ruthlessness have seen my self climb from 60k, to within 10k.  This ruthlessness will continue with Heppell, now that thats out of the way.

Should I trade Heppell to any mid up to 410k, or trade Heppell to Scotland allowing me to hold out on my last mid posi for 1 or 2 more weeks.  Mitchell will see a massive price drop after this week and he is on my radar along with Rischetelli, Ablett, Montagna, Priddis, Thompson & Hodge.

Whats everyones take?

C-Dogg

ruthless?????? you mean really stupid... as if any1 would trade heppell, and if you scotland, its def a sideways trade imo

theswiz

Im agreeing with c-dogg... besides anyone not inside the top 1000 by now has no chance of winning, hate to break it to you.
If you are going to trade heppell thats okay but im 100% sure you have people in your team who have a lower average than heppell.. bettor off canning them first buddy
just for your peace of mind, im ranked 968 and 34th for melbourne... check team names: Great Crusaders for melbourne... im on the first page.

I'm not trading Heppell until GF, but if you're going for overall & your ruthlessness has worked so far, this is the week to do it cos Bombers have 2 more byes. Risky but could pay off. Get Scotland hopefully as a 7th defender

You have no idea if its stupid or not, could be in terms of making or breaking the team, but I'm going with the disciplined approach this year, trying to snag a weekly prize or move up higher than I've finished, only way to do that is take risks.  Yep i'm prob out of the race, but have finished weekly placing 43 and 141 and theres no point playing it safe right now. Couldn't care less about league.  Going with the fact I miss out on Heppells score of 70-100, so why take that when i can get someone with almost 20pts better ave?

Bluke

Sorry jvalles, I get what your trying to do. But Heppell holds to much value IMO and I dont think he has peaked either. Another 100 and his score pushes to 330+ After a weeks break dont think he cant do it either. The kid is a natural.

Tapscott -> Mzungu by all means but surely you have someone better to cull like Duigan, Stanley?

At this stage I figure Stanley is going to mature in price one week quicker making me more cash in that regard.

Darling's even gotta go at some stage and I'm a West Coast supporter!  ;D

Yeah, ive been tempted to cull Darling myself. But decided that with the byes I want one 70 - 80 ppg avg player in my mids backs and defence so that I dont have to bring in some dud every week.

For me that will be

Duigan/Heppell
Libba
Smith
Darling

My other cows are making enough to fill my team with premiums and I think having good cover will mean the difference by years end.

The whole point of my strategy is to have a full team of premiums asap, which means you do need to do some of the culling prematurely.  Could've waited on Duigan or B.Smith but got out the axe a have actually done a heap better than if I had kept them.  I need 1 more premium in the mids and fairly happy to wait it out with my backs as I have prob the top 4 premos their besides maybe Scotland and Adcock. I do see the upside to keeping Heppell as he will continue to get a few games in the midfield, but then it slows down my overall team structure.

Will think about it a bit more as I see both sides of the story, but I've played the stock standard approach for years and the way I have played this year has been a heap more fun.  ;)

ok, the general rule of thumb is when you trade, you want either 100k or a 20 point gain. Current defenders averaging 20 points more than heppell: none

Current defenders averaging 10 points more than heppell : Gibbs, Adcock, Scotland

Other defenders averaging over 90 (a little more than 5 points more than heppell): Deledio, Shaw, Carrazzo

So really, you're trading for a 12 point gain, from a rookie who can only really get better, to a player who's 30 years old.

I wouldn't personally make the trade, if I was to trade out Heppel it would only be for Gibbs or Adcock, and maybe Goddard if he continues to show form. Scotland might JUST squeeze himself in as the final player worth considering, but, league or overall, it's going to hurt during the Carlton bye.

Haha, I was set and pretty stubborn last night, but will be rethinking it and will most likely go with a double downgrade this week I think.  Prob Tapscott to Mzungu and Stanley to ? (any ideas?).  Also wouldn't mind trying to get a DPP ruck in my forward line to move Petrie out of the ruck and play Smith, although I am happy with my forw (Franklin, Chapman, Stevie J, N.Riewoldt, Goodes, Fyfe & Knights with Darling as my Emerg).  May try Lobbe over Jippet and then I can get rid of Darling coz I'll have Petrie as my 8th to cover byes.

So any suggestions of a backman to downgrade to?

jacobs is the only one that springs to mind this round... I would be using tippett instead of lobbe- fact is you won't be needing him except as a link, and tippett is considerably cheaper.
