Thanks Zip...what do you think about M.Evans for a rookie MID?
Also, if I was looking at trade-waiting until next week, is GAJ too much of a risk to pickup instead of S.Thompson? Maybe waiting the week to see how he goes against Geelong would be a good move? Not going to have too much trouble if S.Thommo's price rises as so will Harris or Krakouer (or whoever I trade for him) price rise...

Thompson's thrashing it, he's looking like a safe midfield pick this year. This week, IMO it's between him and gazza. That being said, Thompson's proved himself week in and out this year, while Gazza's proven himself year in and out, but has only had one decent game this season. Honestly, I'd be jumping on  thompson now, unless you'll have huge issues with the multibye, and waiting on ablett at least one week.

Just to weigh into this debate - personally i think that if Gaz is going to absolutely smash out another huge ton against anyone it's going to be Geelong.

Look what happened when Lower player his old team - BOG and his first ton of the season.

Never underestimate the power of a player up against their old side. While Geelong probably know Gaz well, he would also know how they play very well.

To be fair, port is pathetic and geelong are a bestial side. That being said, ablett is a gamble. Personally, I back him for a huge score this week as well, but, Thompson just seems safer atm.

How's this for a plan:

Toy -> Jacobs
Tapscott -> Chapman

Bringing in Evans next week.

Or should I do:

Toy -> Jacobs
Tapscott -> Lynch

Grabbing Chapman next week.

I've only got 13 trades so also thinking about holding Tapscott and maybe selling Darling for Chapman next week. Tapscott only listed as a 3 week injury and I can easily hold him in my forward line as a permanent bench keeper with Petrie coming back into forwards once Sandi is back.

Honestly, I would far prefer to hold onto darling than to depend on Tapscott returning from injury. What if he doesn't make it back into the team, if his injury is prolonged, if he comes back with depreciated score potential.

I prefer trade one. Aim of the game is to get the premiums, chappy is as cheap as he'll ever be and he's about to monster GC.

Question time #4 is open, fire away my friends :)

Ziplock

oh and FTR anyone that's interested, I probably won't be doing an 'ask ziplock hour' or, if I do, it'll be an hour or two before it normally is, due to some work stuff.

So, Q can have that spotlight again should he so desire, people can ask me questions prior to about 4.30 tomorrow though :)

Love your work zip :D

I've been looking at under and over priced players and i found these:
Dale Thomas ave. 102 $391500

Corey Enright ave. 87 $318700
vs
Brady Rawlings ave. 86 $343300

What is your view on these players and others??

Ziplock

Thomas- no. Pendles and Swan own the DT mids for the pies in my eyes. Would barely even consider looking past the two of them.
Enright- Yes, in a bit of a form slump atm (which began when I jumped on *glare*), has had poor games positioned in such a way that he is ridiculously cheap, and should start lifting any time soon. Jump on. If you're uncertain though, you can use this game as a tester- if he scores well against GC despite the ball probably not being in his half that often, should be a clear indicator.
Rawlings- Playing for a bad team, is getting old, and scoring is too inconsistent. Not even good inconsistent where you get your 130s and your 70s, but the bad kind with a low of 50s and top of low 100s. Hell no.

Bak2Form

hey zip what are your thoughts on fyfe? can he keep it up and with Sandi out will it hurt him?

Ziplock

Yes. I think we'll see his scoring take a small dive over the next few weeks, and he might be averaging closer to 90 rather than nearly 105, but, that's more than good enough for a fwd keeper at his price, and as soon as sandi is back he should be up and firing as normal.

The only concern I would voice is the impact the return of players like Barlow may have on his role and subsequent scoring.

Hi Ziplock,

I have created a 2nd side to have some fun which started primarily with rookies and a very large cash balance.  I am down to $2.079M with 18 trades left and the following is my side:

Backs: Gibbs, Adcock, Duigan, Heppell, B Smith, Lower, Stanley, McKernan, O'Shea, Tarrant
Centres: Swan, Selwood, Hodge, Libaratore, Savage, Pittard, Harris, Prestia, Curnow
Rucks: Cox, Sandilands, Smith, McCauley
Forwards: Goodes, N Riewoldt, Darling, Krakouer, Rioli, Matera, Dixon, Richardson, I Smith, Tapscott

This week I am looking at bringing in Ablett for Curnow and Lynch for Tapscott.

I think that I have around 11 keepers (12 with Ablett) and about $2M to get 10-12 premium players.  This works out to an upgrade of around $200K per trade - even more if I use my downgrade trades wisely.

The side is just starting to hit its straps and scored 1946 this week.  I am currently placed 11th and only 1 win behind 8th.

Which premiums do you think should be my targets over the next 3-4 weeks?

Thanks
interesting, I ended up being forced to do this while covering a friends team (literally the worst team you could possibly have in my case)

your premium targets- chapman, pendles and montags over the next few weeks, maybe even thompson (adelaide) for your mids. All cheap players, will maximise your cash.

montagna and goddard should also be brought in ONLY if they appear to regain form, and then get them in asap.

Consider putting in fyfe (this'll be his last sub 400k week) for tappy?

Hi Zip,

I have considered your comments and will be getting Fyfe and Montagna this week.

I have also reviewed my side and, using Gibbs, Adcock, Swan, Selwood, Cox, Sandilands, Goodes and N Riewoldt as keepers, I realise that I can just about afford any other 12 players to make a team of champions.

Who would you select as your best 22?

Thanks,
Rocky

Ziplock

I already answered this question : )
IMO, a Killer team come season end would be roughly as follows

Def: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Adcock, Suckling, Scotland, Enright, Carrazzo (Heppell, Stanley, Jacobs)
Mids: Swan, Pendlebury, Selwood, Boyd, Mitchell, Rockliff (Swallow, Mzungu, Hibberd)
Rucks: Sandilands, Cox (Smith, J Tippett)
Fwds: Chapman, Franklin, Goodes, Pavlich, N Riewoldt, Sylvia, Fyfe (Krakouer, Petrie, Darling)

in your case, hodge instead of mitchell is fine. Heppell instead of carrazzo is also fine due to the finals bye for carrazzo and him sharing it with gibbs, subsequently puopolo would be on the bench, rioli is fine as a keeper as well, and darling could probably stay on your field as your final upgrade.

But that would be my best team.

Chelskiman

I asked this in another thread but it kind of got over looked so I'll ask here as well.

I was thinking about moving one of Chappy or Goodes into my mids for Mzungu and then play Krakouer in my forwards with Mzungu as sub.  This will mean I'll have to drop either D. Swallow or Conca, so which one should I drop?  To make things a bit clearer I'll show you my team.

Option 1 (Team Now)

Mids: Swan, Boyd, Montagna, Curnow (which will be Thomson when I trade him in), Conca Swallow <Harris, Mzungu, Hibberd>

Forwards: Franklin, Goodes, Chapman, N. Riewoldt, Stevie J, Darling, Yarran <Krakouer, Tapscott, Matera>

Option 2

Mids: Swan, Boyd, Montagna, Curnow (which will be Thomson when I trade him in), Chapman, Conca/Swallow <Conca/Swallow, Harris, Hibberd>

Forwards: Franklin, Goodes, N. Riewoldt, Stevie J, Darling, Krakouer, Yarran <Mzungu, Tapscott, Matera>

Ziplock

you're asking who to field and who not to field correct? not who to trade out?

Field Conca by a mile, for several reasons, which I've already posted but will copy + paste for you
1. Conca has a higher 4 game average
2. Conca is playing a deplorable Port Adelaide, while Swallow is playing an on fire Geelong

Swallow might get a little less attention, as I believe Geelong will focus a little too much on Ablett, but, pretty clear choice if I was in your position.

But you need to have 3 on the bench in the forward line... Tapscott is still at a low price and in terms of him coming back with depreciated score potential, I would just need him to come back to be absolute backup. The hammy is listed as 3 weeks it's not like he tore it off the bone? I dunno it's easy getting the premium in but I'm worried about my lack of trades, and one of Knights/Dawes/Darling has to go at some stage anyway as I can do so much better.
