This has tonight again gained some heat on radio drive show 5AA.
Stephen Rowe quoting Andrew Demetriou 'Port Adelaide cause me more sleepless nights than any other club' and asking the question should Fev be sponsored Folau and Hunt style to play at Alberton next year.

Rowe - 'If they were to get Fev then Andrew could sleep a little easier knowing the crowd would come to watch him. They could rookie list him until the first week of March 2012, pay him the minimum wage, have the AFL make up the difference - why wouldn't they have a crack at him'

Fair to say that 11 goals for Casey Scorpions has Stephen Rowe 'all Fevved up'  ;)

Maybe Fev to the Cows n Tex to GWS makes more Dollars n Cents to me

i am a die hard port fan and have been supporting the power since i was a grade 1 student back in 2001 and i think they have hit rock bottom the burgoynes are gone the cornes brother are getting old cassisi over wanganeen hardwick pickett tredrea and many more legends are gone and the forwards such as hitchcock are useless westhoff hartlett and a few other young players (lobbe etc) seem to be the only hope left. i think we the port adelaide supporters are not in the right position to be picky of our players and fevola would be a fantastic addition to our team at the moment. players like ebert are not helping the team at all instead they are underperforming think back to the golden years 2002-2007 and what port adelaide used to be minor premiers three years in a row 2002-2004 a premiership 2004 and a runners up 2007 which when watching i was in grade 7 which only made me support the club more. port adelaide needs a coleman medalist in their forwardline even if he has a bad boy reputation. this would be a positive step forward and would bring the club back on track.

i cant say i think its a good idea yet im not a Port fan...

If this is something the fans of Pt Adelaide want and its going to get them to the games then im all for it, another bridge to Adelaide Oval and the survival of The Power im all for... that said i wouldnt want to hear the same fans whinging about Fev being Fev and the potential damage he could/will do to the youth of the club with his selfish behaviour on and off the field :-X

I'm a diehard Port Fan & reckon that is the most absurd idea that any one in their right mind would bring up. Patooey to it.

Go back a few years when we had thje ex Swan player / Norwood player in ADAM HEUSKES playing for us. Got a few of the boys into trouble also. Sure there are others at other clubs as well as Port, but look at the past history of Fev at Carlton / Lions / & even now at the Scorpions. It's embarassing now being the blunt of jokes but we are now in a position to utilise our draft picks hopefully better & maybe unearth a Forward that can do all the above.

Remember someone has to finish bottom, look at Carlton now with their picks,or other clubs that finished lower down the ladder, Essendon > Heppell what a pick for them last year. So it's out there it's just having the right recruiter / eyes on all the youngsters, & of course Listening to them as well. Joel Selwood ring a bell? Passed over because other people said his knees are no good.

Sanity maybe rules >> http://www.adelaidenow.com.au/sport/afl/port-adelaide-dismisses-calls-to-sign-bad-boy-brendan-fevola/story-e6freco3-1226097895087

well said carlton came bottom of the ladder three years in a row and gained gibbs, murphy and kreuzer but port will most likely come last but the number 1 draft pick will go to GWS which i think is a load of shower because they already have enough players and dont need to take struggling clubs draft picks. fevola is a huge risk and one year of fevola in port could really help the forwardline. fev is a goal magnet carlton were smacked with the wooden spoon and still fev won the coleman. port will take a few years to get better and im fine with that but fevola could provide a reinforcement over the next two years just to make sure the team doesnt collaspe. i know he will misbehave and is unstable but the next few years will get ugly for port and fevola could provide the young players with the lift they need to make sure they dont become a waste of talent (eg liam anthony , edward curnow).

ive gotta say as a Carlton supporter Fev was in the right place at the right time...

our club was on our knees and in our darkest era, we needed an icon a ray of hope someone to carry us thru the darkest hour and perhaps also someone we could anoint as the next champion of the club...

as we now know this was not good for the team not good for Fev and in the end not good for the club, the ego we created in him perpetuated selfish one way football that could never succeed as we climbed back up the ladder and that very ego would not let him accept a team role, he was powered off pardon the pun that the ball wasnt kicked to him every entry into the forwardline and inturn he would not chase and work for the team... i tell u half the time id watch Carlton games i was hurling abuse at the tv bcos he wasnt chasing he wasnt "ON" so to speak, honestly in the end i was unlike most deadset happy we got rid of him and i didnt give a shower if the picks or players didnt work out, we just needed to be rid of him to move forward...

so i guess the point of my post is there is only the tiniest window of hope he can offer and that is entertainment/sideshow and bottoms on seats for the next period where u guys r hanging out to get to Adelaide Oval, i just dont think he is worth the risk with the attitude and mentality he has to football and life, it could too easily resonate with a young fella at the club who maybe has similar undiagnosed issues or even just a lad that looked up to Fev, either way the Pro is not worth the Cons steer clear...

he looks still atleast 5-10kegs overcooked in that pic too Naste ;)

these are all very good points but we are talking about port adelaide. yes they are my team but right now the only team i could see them beat is adelaide, richmond and thats about it. honest forget about fevs ego anything would make port adelaide better than they are at the moment. fev is most welcome to come to the aberton ground with me aslong as he leaves when port improve and if he behaves himself and kicks alot of goals i think he would be a potential captain for the future port adelaide side.

RiOtChEsS

mmm Fev cant captain his own ship safely... let alone a club :-X

Fevola although a superstar could definately go to port and kick 60 plus next year the problem is his age at around the 30 mark how much quality football can he play and will he diminish opportunities for younger players to develop i.e John Butcher even Jay schultz, Justin Westhoff because one of them will miss with the big B at FF. Its very difficult with a 3 man bench to play 3 key fwds and a ruckman in Lobbe i can't  see this happening matthew primus is not the man inclined to go for short term gain longterm pain he will persist with the kids and attempt to improve the culture brendan fevola is not the man for this. I would welcome a simon black type at the end of his career to help develop younger players  and show them the type of professionalism required to be an elite AFL player. I feel port Adelaides good players excluding possibly Dom Cassisi are not excellent leaders in terms of Chad Cornes, Kane Cornes, Rodan and Brogan being an enormous loss

cassisi is a terrible captian and westhoff could play CHF and schulz in forward pocket i think primus should keep ebert sub because hes utterly useless and misses from five metres out clear shot and fev full forward.

is fev seriously going to port next year though?

Zarts

IMO WB may give him a shot to propel themselves back into a viable position- they don't have very many members considering their recent ladder rankings, they're going to be in shower if they find themselves scraping the barrel for a few years.

Personally, I would consider fev if I was them, just to keep themselves kinda running.

So John Butcher one of your highest recent draft picks can sit in the SANFL for another 2-3 years with no opportunities while Fevola is there and we won't get to find out for 4-5 years if he can play he would probably end up back in victoria i can see your speaking from the heart and you love port adelaide the club. But my opinion differs when it comes to list management for a side that will probably finish wooden spoon. Look at the benchmark in the competition Collingwood look at how the top half of the list has all been drafted and developed from within recruiters back themselves to go out and find very good players. Pendlebury, Thomas, Swan, Shaw, Cloke, Dawes, Didak, the nucleous of this premiership side that won the flag last year throw in steele Sidebottom, Dayne Beams and you can see the different levels of development along the way with Swan,Shaw, Cloke the more experienced around prime age 27-28, pendlebury, Thomas, Dawes next crop and sidebottom, Beams the next.

They threw in two mature players in Jolly and Ball when they were in contention top 4 two years in a row previously but i mean there is a huge difference in the character drafted here Jolly Sydney Premiership Player, Ball former captain of st kilda. To brendan Fevola whom has been traded by carlton to brisbane for disciplinary issues and then delisted by brisbane with a million dollar payout for various reasons along with a gambling problem and alchohol issues. Another Example Geelong Ablett, Bartel, Enright, Chapman, Steve Johnson, Joel Corey, Jimmy bartel, Joel Selwood, Scarlett, Harry taylor, James Kelly. You put these good kids together and they learn to play together it takes time and experience to become the side you want and who knows the kids you pick my fail and then its time to cleanse the list again untill you get it right. The last great Port Adelaide premiership side of 04 that beat the champion brisbane side was made up of players found in your backyward tradrea, burgoynes, primus, Cornes, drafted and developed that was 7 years ago you saw that system work so well and the players you did bring across had incredible charater Wanganeen, Hardwick . Even Richmond i see to be in a better situation to port adelaide Jack Riewoldt Coleman medalist, Trent Cotchin talened, Dustin Martin Talented, Tyron Vickery shows signs, Brett Deliedio around the mark. Your crop Hartlett, Boak, Carlisle whom is rumoured to be moving, Trengrove rumoured to be moving .

Carlton already tried too build a club around Fevola and couldn't, Brisbane lifeline he failed again he was disciplined at casey scorpions already and melbourne was not happy he went there because they thought he would may deny development to their kids in the VFL and he played 5 weeks of VFL reserves football before he got a game in the seniors for being terribly Unfit if this is the kind of character you want to lead the new batch of kids forward as a port adelaide supporter so be it. You have to be a realist and say port cannot win a flag in the next 3 years with Collingwood, West Coast, Carlton, Fremantle knocking around the mark and the Old stagers Geelong, St Kilda, Dogs will be competitive for a couple of years to come even if this is that 3's last real chance. So you are going to be looking for another key forward in three years instead of attempting to draft a good one whilst you are down the bottom and develop think Jack Riewoldt, Lance Franklin, Josh Kennedy, Cloke, Dawes excluding franklin all took time to develop into the players that could tear a game apart. Fev could kick 80 next year but that might lift you to 12th with a hole coming in the future.
