So, last week I went grimes---> enright and
curnow---> dal santo

IMO, those looked like the best possible trades I could have made, and honestly should have assured me victory over my opponent.

but, then he gets shaw for grimes, enright scores 70 and dalsanto scores 50s, and I lose my matchup by 60 points.

What really, really, really burns is that had I gotten hodge instead of dal santo (which I'd considered), I would have won both my league matches relatively comfortably.

So basically, by picking the best trades I think I could have made, I screwed my DT this week.

In anycase, without using your awesome powers of hindsight do you all agree those were probably the best trades to go? Considering I have 10k left over in the bank?

Personally I would have downgraded one and upgraded one last week, then do the same thing this week and you prob would've ended up with a much better midfielder.  I could have done a similar thing, but instead downgraded Grimes, got Chappy in, now this week I will either make 2 more downgrades or downgrade/upgrade to basically anybody.  Don't go cheap on your premos unless you can see them coming back in to form.  Could work out for you long term though.

Dal Santo was doing well enough, and averaging 110 if you disregard what appeared to be one poor and random score, and going the way he appeared to be, looked like a good pick up for a 6th mid for a decent price, with his 60 just being at kind of that perfect position to have stopped him from price rising this season pretty much at all.

I got him in pretty much as a league clincher. barbie. lol.

:-X

It's amazing how many mids failed to deliver this week. Redden, Watson, Dal Santo and even guys like Pendlebury and Chappy. If only we could predict these things :P

Ziplock

well, I predicted pendles and chappy if that's any consolation :P

BillMurray

Add Sammy Mitchell to that list please... :-[

Can't believe over half his team managed 100+ scores and he got a poultry 60...DAMN you 'clamps' Jones!  ;)

Ziplock

just ftr, I predicted mitchells failure for this round like 3 weeks ago :P

You thought Dal Santo would "assure" victory

sorry Ziplock but lololololololol.

Dal Santo OFTEN gets tagged out of games.

Last year he scored sub 100 11 times with 4 or 5 of those being sub 80.

He often has low scoring games and you can never be assured of a big score from Dal Santo, especially with Hayes gone.

Ziplock

I probably should have clarified, I thought he was nearly a deadset ringer for a 90+, which he only scored under like 6 times last year (with two of them being reasonable 80s).

Basically, I didn't anticipate him scoring his worst score in a year :P

Big waste of a trade getting in dal santo. although he has the 51 from last week he is still the 35th ranked midfielder atm.  come finals you want a midfield of outright guns  (Swan, pendles, Boyd, Bartel, selwood etc). Dal santo is ALRIGHT but certainly as nails said is much more likely to have the off game then the players ive listed

I think you've tried for a short term gain which backfired

Ziplock

^ you may be right, this is only my second year of dream team after all lol. I don't think I thought my trades through with a clear enough head unfortunately.

It was a bit of a punt, and it could end up coming reasonable, if he can stop the flow of these sub-par scores though, he could end up being up there at the end of the season.

and it was for short gain tbh, I really wanted to take out my league opponent this week... and, as you can see, failed lol.

PowerBug

Highest in price doesn't always mean highest in scoring. Anyway that was one week, think of it like Collingwood. If nothing bizarre happens then they'll coast to the flag.

Ziplock

thanks bug, that does make me feel better :D

Windigo

Was so close to getting Dal Santo. But I chose Mundy at the last second, thanks to some guidance.  ;)
