Swan V Boyd for this weeks Captain

Swan at MCG against pies
Boyd at Etihad against tigers

thanme

Can we hold you to that elephants? :P

someguy

Swan:

  • Past three games against the Cats: 94, 127, 141 (120.6 average; 99.3 career average)
  • Ling more likely to go to Pendlebury due to the fact that his ball use is better than Swans and that Swan has traditionally got the better of Ling
  • Swan playing at the MCG - 100.6 career average; only 1 score under 100 in 4 games at the ground this year (scored: 94 vs Dogs); only 3 scores under 100 in 13 games last year (scored: 84, 83, 94)
  • Rain could affect scoring
  • Coming off the bye. Don't think will affect his scoring too much, but teams coming off the bye have often come out slow

Boyd:

  • Past three games against the Tigers: 81, 97, 105 (94.3 average; 79.0 career average)
  • Tigers more likely to tag Cooney, Griffin and maybe Cross, ahead of Boyd
  • Boyd playing at Etihad Stadium - 87.9 career average; only 1 score under 100 in 3 games at the ground this year (scored: 85 vs Ess); only 1 score under 100 in 10 games last year (scored: 75)
  • Weather won't affect the scoring
  • Boyd coming off a great game against the Swans (134)

Personally I'm taking a punt and going Boyd.

I'm going watson over Swan as I'm a Cats fan but would normally go with swan.
I dare say it might make all of 20 points difference either way Boyd or Swan.

Good research someguy  :) cheers

@ fenno; I don't think the tigers are easy beats at all but i don't see that affecting Boyd's output (he'll be working harder if anything). Plus, there is almost no chance he'll be tagged; Griffin & Cooney will get all the heat for sure. Plus he's in hot form from last week and players have been a bit sluggish coming back from the bye. Also in Swans last game v the dogs i recall it was raining pretty heavily and he appeared so disinterested that game (monty observed this also). The votes have tightened up tho, neck and neck  ::)

The weather is looking terrible just now. Wind is almost gale force!  :o

Boyd looking better and better for mine...

I know Boyd has been gunning it but everyone does know that he struggles against the tigers don't you? The Tigers aren't easy beats anymore and wouldn't even surprise me if they beat the doggies. Richmond also have some decent taggers so is Boyd really that good an option?
Swan every game except byes. Dont know if anyone said this yet cant be bothered reading it all but he has scored 127 and 141 against them in the last 2 games  ;)

PowerBug

Yeah Swan has scored 141 and 127 in his last two games against geelong. Swan for me.

BillMurray

Does the weather not play on your mind at all (People choosing Swan) ?? Just curious as it will 100% have an effect on his scoring if it stays wild and wooly...

r we sure the roof is gonna be closed?

If there's any sign/risk of wet weather it will be closed. Can't think of a recent night match where I've seen it open anyway.

BillMurray

The only chance it will be open is if the ground coordinator's DT opponent has Boyd captain... ;)

Slap

It is warmer when the roof is closed aswell..  Boyd for me.

When I typed that I got shivers - like i just committed blasphemy. :'(

Edit:
Even if Swan gets 120 and boyd 100.  If you own both players and select boyd as capt, you only miss out on 20 points.  Sure, a game can come down to 20 points, but it can work both ways.  I have both of them and I'd be happy if swan pumped out 160.  Sure I made the wrong choice, but the more points hte better.
