I put some time into this, its easy to read. SO HAVE A LOOK! And for a second, put your opinions aside and read the following stats/info to make a new opinion.  Your insight will be appeciated.

Ok, hopefully you understood all those stats.  If you missed a couple of things, I'll run over what I considered to be interesting factors.

Tom Rockliff:
- Young Gun and the future of Brisbane.
- Does not have a bye during the league fixtures, meaning I will not have to trade him out should I make finals.
- Has a high scoring ceiling.
- Conversely, he has knocked out a few sub-100 scores.
- Brisbane have one of the best DT fixtures BY FAR.
- Marginally cheaper than the other two options - but when paying this much money, it shouldn't be a factor.

Joel Selwood:
- A proven gun of the Geelong Cats.
- When you cancel his Concussion score (27), his average is 119.75 over 4 games and a bye.
- Maybe getting more touches because of the GAJ departure - good news.
- Has been and will be tagged in the future.
- Has a harder fixture than Rockliff, but is he good enough to overcome this.
- A contested ball winner; even when tagged or against good opposition - he manages to find his own ball.
- Has dropped marginally in price from last season, probably the cheapest you'll find him.
- Has a bye in the DT finals - if I don't win first week of finals, I may have to trade him.

Jobe Watson:
- Gun, and imo a fairly good bet for brownlow atm.
- Averaging an insane 117 against 7 different opposition this year inc. Coll, WB, StK, Syd, Carl.
- Has been and will be tagged in the future.
- Has a harder fixture than Rockliff, but is he good enough to overcome this.
- A contested ball winner; even when tagged or against good opposition - he manages to find his own ball.
- Has a bye in round 10 coming up - one less game I'll have him.
- Has a bye in the DT finals - If I make it to the Grand Final, I will have to trade him.

These are some points to consider if you had to make the decision.  I really really like Brisbane's fixture - but they are such an unknown risk week in, week out.  Selwood and Watson are blue chip players and you'll get exactly what you asked for most weeks.  They both have a bye during the finals and tougher fixtures than Rocky, but are these two guns what I need to get into the finals in the first place?

This is for my final position in my midfield.  I already have Swan, Monty, Boyd, Pendles, Redden - So please don't suggest them.  Just the players I don't have.

Cheers - I hope you enjoyed this read.

Thanks for outlining it all, been looking for another premium mid this week too.

Personally I'll probably pick Selwood, I want a proven players, and Watson's bye in the Grand Final doesn't really help his case.

Have you thought about Sam Mitchell though?

thanme

I like Rockliff because he's a little more unique than the others and scores well, which could give you the edge where you need it. That being said, I don't think Watson is that popular.

If you have enough trades, I wouldn't be bothered about the finals byes. Watson is a dead set gun and I think it'd be worth having him racking up awesome scores, then you just switch him to someone else come round 24. Not quite the same scenario with selwood, as you'd probably have to trade to someone to carry you through the rest of the finals.

So, if the trades aren't an issue, given that you already have Redden, I'd go Watson.

Nice write up btw :)

I have thought of Sam, except I have seen him crash an burn a couple of times.  Im thinking i'd rather get in a 25 year old or younger in the peak of their game.  Nothing against Mitchell, but I've seen him struggle when tagged.  But that being said, I've also seen selwood and jobe struggle (but they look a diff player this year, that step from gun to elite).

Thanks mate.  Yeah, I don't think finals trades are going to be too much of a worry, I tried not to get too many players from those teams.  I was planning on getting Rocky and Redden for my mids a while ago as my wildcards..  But I cant afford for them to score 90's when a selwood and Watson will get 100+

Watson having two byes is a big negative, considering selwood only has one and rocky has none.

Get bartell after this week he will find form and go back into the top 7 midfielders this year....

He has had a few under 100 scores..  I think i'd prefer selwood.  If i hd the choice of Bartel or Rockliff, I'd probably take the punt on Rocky.

I keep forgetting that Watson hasn't had a bye yet.
If it's a must-trade this week (i.e. you don't want to wait for Watsons first bye) go nuts on Selwood. It's not a bad choice my any means.

I think thats what I'm leaning to.  I want to pick Rockliff though :( haha.. but selwoods ave around 120 from the games he wasnt concussed is impressive.

Im just worried that he'll get concussed again, stupid hardnut player haha ;P

Have you thought about Mundy. I'm tossing up between Mundy & Selwood although I do have Batrel which may sway me. Brisbane do have an easier draw but expecting Rocky to continue high scoring may not be the best option. I do believe he will be a star in the future but just not yet. If your looking for someone more stable around the age 25 I think it's between Mundy & Selwood.

I would love to have Watson but 2 byes to come throws me off.

David Mundy - Fremantle 26yrs July
Price: $425500
Averaging: 113 (6 Games + 1 bye gone)
Highest Score/s: 134, Round 2 v Geelong, 120, Round 5 v Dogs.
Lowest Score/s: 87, Round 1 v Brisbane.
Scores this season: RD1 Br 87, RD2 GE 134, RD3 AD 117, RD4 N/M 112, RD5 Dogs 120, RD6 Bye, RD7 Rich 108.
Next Bye: Round 16 (Non-DT league round)
Season Fixture: W/Coast, Port, St.K, Haw, Melb, Bris, G/C, Bye, Syd, W/Coast, Haw, St.K, Carl, N/Melb, C/Wood, Dogs.

Completely disagree with that statement. I'd take him over everyone you listed except probably Selwood.

Great write-up!

I like Mundy, Especially since he shaved his head - he looks alot more focused for some reason.  ahah.  But I think I like the consistency of Geelong over Mundy, so i'd be leaning to Selwood before Mundy.  But if I had Bartel, I'd probably go Mundy before Selwood.

You really cannot afford to have too many people out during DT finals.  It will cost you ALOT of trades each finals week to fix it.
