Strong Enough Midfield???

My mids this week:

Swan, Pendles, Redden, Rockliff, Goddard, Foley. (Harris, Irons, Hibberd)

Now I was thinking in two weeks I could turn this into:
Grimes > Jacobs (Jacobs into mids and Goddard back to backline next week)
Harris > Mundy/Mitchell

next round
Stanley/Tapscott/Matera (one of the 3) > Isaac Smith if named for 3rd game
and then Foley > Mitchell.

Swan, Pendles, Redden, Rockliff, Mundy and Mitchell

Is that midfield sufficiently strong enough? Is going for value in Mundy and Mitchell going to kill me too much if I don't have an over priced Boyd or a 22nd rd Jelwood?

I'd like to think that Mundy and Mitchell will be good enough. Too weak?

Thoughts? It'd leave me with only 2 more upgrades to make probably...

Andrew

I'm considering getting Mundy for the Grimes/Curnow upgrade:

Grimes -> Rawlings
Curnow -> Mundy

But I don't know whether to back him, go better value in Dal Santo, or not get Rawlings and just got Curnow -> Pendlebury. I don't have the money for a defensive upgrade & Pendlebury - Pendlebury burns all my cash.

You're in a similar situation and I feel like telling you to get Boyd at all costs because he's top 4 midfielder for sure. Tough not knowing whole team and situation, but looking at your midfield you've already got enough value there in Redden & Rockliff so maybe not the time to go short on a premium...

Nails, I tend to think there is too much compromise, I'm as big a fan as anyone for unique teams and it's good to pick a reliable 6th mid unique imo but with Redden and Rockliff already I'd be seeking the ultra premium options only; Selwood, Boyd, Watson etc. Lets not get to stressed by the finals byes just yet.

DamoBeard

boyd is far from over priced proven fantasy stud top 4 mid last 3 years

He is at the moment IMO

He costs MORE than Swan...

Especially when you consider he has pumped out two 80s this year.

He will drop in price a bit over next two weeks which will make him better value, which is what I'm waiting for.

Ziplock

boyd is priced 60k over watson, even though they're averaging the same from memory.

Boyd started higher and watson still has a low BE

I don't mind that midfield, my finished miss will be Swan Pendles Jelwood Boyd Redden and Montagna. I think you may have to get an ultra premo in , ideally getting either Rocky or Redden instead of both may have been a safer option, but hey go with your gut !

Yes but this year 119 avg is worth closer to 450k is my point :)

Chaos - yeah I'm ranked 22k so trying to be different getting guns in who might help me catch up.

Considering I got Rockliff for 377k and Redden for 405k pretty good value for money for what they CAN average this year is pretty good I guess.

Rockliff to average 109 at 377k vs getting Boyd at 480k for 119... hmmm

My brain tells me I should really pick up Boyd/Mitchell/Jelwood/Watson to be my last 2 but the fact I'm soooo far behind makes me think I have to be somewhat unique.

I'll prob have around 8 trades for 11 rounds. Too few probably I know, but going to have LOTS of DPP cover...

I was even toying with the thought of burning down to 6 trades for around 10 rounds and using someone like Jared Brennan as my 7th Mid or 8th Fwd. or even like Bartel as just a 7th mid...

I realise it's probably a terrible idea, ridiculous really, but he'd be perfect cover considering my team would be finished by rd 13 or so... I don't know, horrible idea, not too bad if DPP, but he'd probably become onfield player in reality idk I'm rambling shhh nails  :-X

the only problem with going too unique is you are banking on someone like boyd to not produce the numbers... and he is currently doing the job.

getting a mundy for example is great and he is proving himself, but you probably need boyd to slump a bit to justify the move overall. having boyd and then mundy as a unique compared to someone like a selwood, bartel etc, is probably a better move

One of my friends has Swan, Pendles, Boyd, Chappy, Martin and J.Selwood, and Swallow, Gaff, Broadbent.
