I cannot make a decision between Boyd and Swan for captain, for some reason I'm leaning toward Boyd. I think coz pies are coming off a bye and Swan isn't in his best form at the moment. Thoughts?

there's two things to consider: highest overall average (playing it safe) and highest average over the last 3 games (going on recent form, a little more risque)
it's up to you what DT style you have!

Nails

go read calvin's captains...

Swan by a mile for this one.

Ziplock

actually you can factor in another couple of things.
you have 1. season avg
2. recent average (4 games)
3. recent team history for this week's matchup (avg last 4)
4. strength of the team they are playing (for example, everyone dominating DT wise against GC, or Sandi dominating a ruckless richmond)
5. When they had their bye- a fresher player?

Swan:             Boyd:
1. 124            1. 119
2. 111.75        2. 127.5
3. 106.5         3. 97.25
(although he   (has only cracked the ton twice against them since 2003)
has smashed
the ton against
them in his last
2 match ups,
score severly
depreciated
by a 60 odd
in 09  )
4. Geelong    4. richmond

Geelong is clearly the harder team this season, although richmond is certainly a better team than last year, and even so boyd only just scrape in on a 105.
5. Boyd had his rest a good 4 or so rounds ago, while Swan is coming on fresh.

Basically, Boyd's current form leaves swan's for dead, however, Swan's been rested recently, and has a far better history against geelong than boyd has against richmond, in my honest opinion, Swan is a better option, he should come out of the gates absolutely firing...

So, basically, a really longwinded version of what nails just said :P

reckon swanny's due for a big one. not sure if he or pendles will cop the ling tag ?

Ziplock

Pendles will, he has a better kick that swanny and subsequently is more damaging. IMO, selwood and swan will go head to head.

Agreed, swan is nowhere near as damaging as pendlebury and swan vs selwood should be a solid head to head

Ziplock

imo, swan'll leave selwood for dead... but, we'll see :P

Maybe in dt points I honestly rate jselwood more as a player, I think swan is overrated. Finds the footy alot but doesnt hurt teams like other players do.

Ziplock

yeah, I'm talking DT points here

I think Jobe might be my skipper this week :)

dale93

I am going Boyd this week and Goodes as vice

bundyboy

boyd for me

I watched last weeks game and thought he was only average...but then saw the DT scores and still scratching my head how he got that many touches....

sneaky good Boyd....gets it when you don't even notice....

(ps: easy choice for me since I don't have Swann :) )

MissPiesFF

I'd go Boyd, considering Swans(not Pies) recent form.
