Current Mids:

Boyd, Swan, Bartel, Mitchell, Grigg, Curnow*

Who do you guys think will be a better replacement for Curnow ?

Note: I am interested only in league. Currently sitting in third spot and thinking that instead of boosting Grimes to H.Shaw It's probably better esp in short term to downgrade him for Jacobs and get my mids basically set. My current thoughts on both:

Pendles: plays in top team, next 6 games till final bye are all against very poor opposition, great captain option but slightly worried about his potential to be rested as season heads towards business end.

Selwood: In red hot form, very consistent, captain option, gets a lot of frees and can score huge. The bye during finals is a worry since i have Bartel and may get Chappy in at some point but if i back myself (which i do currently) to win first final then it won't be an issue. Also a little concerned that Selwood's hard-at-it nature can make him prone to getting ko'd like he did.

I know you can't go wrong with either but who looks the better candidate?

Thanks in advance  8)

Pendles.

Selwood has a bye during DT finals.  Saves you a trade and maintains the quality.  Plus Pendles doesn't get knocked out as much.

Ziplock

Pendles, hands down, should be looking to upgrade grigg to selwood soon down the track. Interesting choice in grigg btw... if you could share your reasoning for choosing him in your team, I'd be very interested to hear it?

@Ziplock

Very happy somebody picked that up  ;)

-Well i watched him play for the blues in his limited games there and he always appeared to be hovering just outside packs getting those cheap marks/kicks that us DT coaches love. His pre season numbers were very promising (high 70's and a 130 odd from memory). I couldn't bring myself to trust Foley or Cotchin's bodies, Houli was close but his job security actually worried me a tad. I just thought Grigg he could one of those players that really flourishes from a new start with a club that wants to play him.
- Although I don't usually go for mid-rangers in that price category my reasoning was that he could either 1; take his game to a new level and become a unique 6th mid keeper or 2; at least hold his price around the 345k mark and become a straight swap for a bargain gun later in season.

Ziplock

solid reasoning. Hasn't really lost you too much cash, so, all good :)

Yeah he's been ok Ziplock, but is a bit too up and down atm (70 odd then a 100 sort of thing). I mean, Griggy hasn't had a single 80-something score yet which is what i expected him to be getting most weeks which is pretty surprising. If he can stop having such poor final terms and get those 70 odd efforts up to the 90+ mark I'll be a happy man  ;) I enjoy having such a unique tho (in 0.5% of overall squads), adds a bit of flavour to my team at least  :P

Oh, and back to my original thread; I had Pendles slightly ahead of Selwood which seems to be the general consensus. Thanks for the comments so far

pendes for a few reasons both are =1st for points per minute, but selwood only gets 70% game time to pendles 82%, and geelongs bye in rd. 21

on the other hand take into consideration mick has mentioned swan and pendles might have a few games off during the year with the new sub rule

Others and planning to get there first.

pinochio

having exactly the same dilemma...

Pendles
- Bit more pricey
- Bit more scoring potential
- Higher average...from 6 games...
- No bye in DT finals
- Could be rested

Selwood -
- Cheaper
- Bye in DT finals
- Bottamed out
- 120 avg over last month
- A tad kamikaze...where anything can happened

Help guys taking into account byes....lolz this is too hard (you just know the one u pick is gonna be wrong!!!)

Pulled the trigger, got Selwood in, don't like the dreadlocks.

Too close to call otherwise.
