I've got 16 trades and 196k in the bank. Wondering if the double trade of Heath Shaw & Rischitelli is worthwhile? Rischtelli has a b/e of 88 and plays Adelaide. Gold Coast then have a bye where I'd have 4 in midfield and to avoid the doughnut I'd have to do D. Swallow -> I. Smith to swap a mid/for into midfield. But after that bye Gold Coast don't have one...

Is Rischitelli a good buy? Would it be better just getting Pendlebury this week for $65k more? Is Curnow out for too long to hold?

Very tricky week...

curnow's break-even will kill ya! even when he does come back in 4 or so weeks, who can say he'll score just as well as he use to? he's done his job and he's gotta go :)

maybe instead of shaw get a gram, enright or fisher? and with the extra cash upgrade to maybe bartel?

Yeah thinking about the Curnow b/e also, he won't grow much more in a hurry plus he probably should be sold later in the year anyway before Carlton's 2nd bye in finals time. I'm not keen on Bartel because I've got Joel Selwood, I'm only really keen on Pendlebury and Rischitelli or Mundy, with Stanton a likely inclusion once he bottoms about (he'll be too cheap!).

With the Grimes replacement, I've already got Enright and aren't too keen on St. Kilda players (those two haven't bottomed out yet). Outside of the upgrade, I could hold this week and see if Puopolo gets named for a 3rd game. I need to do something with McKernan after this weekend though I'm pretty sure - he would've peaked - so a downgrade would be easy. I also plan to get Hibberd/Jacobs depending on who starts playing - at the moment, neither!

So a very tricky week... I'm leaning towards the double trade though as long as Issac Smith gets named for this weekend.

in that case go to shaw and rischitelli (or someone near his price range) :)

Do you really need to trade. You only have 16 left. Hold until you really need to use your trades.

grimes and curnow sitting on the pine is not something you want, especially if they're both injured. the trades need to be done.

+1
Frustrating to have to use more trades, but it must be done. And as long as the trades start helping building your final team, it should be ok.
All downgrade options should have good JS so that you can keep them. All upgrades must be premiums!

I dont agree that the curnow trade is 100% necessary. Especially if you've burned 16 trades already. He had a bye this week anyway and might miss 2 or 3 games after that. If u have a healthy amount of trades then by all means say thanks Ed and show him the door, but for the trigger happy out there then not sure u can afford to lose him.
Just throwing it out there!

Trades are golden at the start of the year. Don't trade for like 4 weeks and It will benefit yah'.

Unless you make a real blunder......But I never got Curnow and I never went running after him.

So, for Curnow it's a cracked collar bone yeah?

Just wasting a trade getting Rischa fully knowing that you will have a donut with him in 2 weeks forcing you to trade-again- Anyone else you were looking at???

A cracked collarbone? But I heard he was only out for a month???  :-\

lol but curnow was always a cash cow and will remain one. if he's out for 4 weeks, it'll take at least 2 weeks for him to go up again. that's 6 weeks before a price rise... not something I'm keen on at all.

Yes he does have a bye after this weekend, but I'm planning on getting a MID/FOR downgrade for D.Swallow (probably I.Smith) anyway after this weekend which saves me the doughnut. It's Rischitelli's last bye and every premium mid is copping at least 1 bye from here on in so what does it matter when? (I'm still asking myself that) I wanna get him in this week because I think his price is on the way up with a 88 breakeven he'll score at least a 100 v Adelaide this weekend, they look shocking.

Others I'm looking at are MID/FORs which would leave me a bit of a delimma to eventually fit them in my stacked forward line (see team below): Sylvia & Harvey have 80-odd breakevens and easy opponents (each other!). Sylvia I'd like to get in the team as Melbourne have a great last month of fixtures, but he's a bit of an injury risk. Harvey I'm not sure is good enough but in good form at the moment.

I could scrap this plan and instead go:

Curnow -> Pendlebury
Grimes -> Jacobs

And upgrade McKernan in defence next week. Here's my team for those wondering (thread):

DEF: Gibbs (D/M), Deledio (D/M), Enright, Grimes, Adcock, Heppell (D/M), Stanley (Lower, McKernan (D/F), Toy)
MIDS: Swan, Boyd, J.Selwood, Goddard (D/M), Curnow, Swallow (Harris, Bewick, Iles)
RUCK: Sandilands, Cox (J.Tippett, McCauley)
FOR: Franklin, Goodes, Riewoldt, Fyfe, Dawes, Knights, Petrie (Matera, Tapscott, Darling)

Ziplock

that leaves your backline far too weak, especially for this round. I think just do the upgrade to shaw for now, then trade curnow to pendles in a few weeks when pendles price dips/

no it won't. if he does grimes -> Jacobs and curnow -> pendlebury, he will then swap Jacobs with Goddard making his field backs: Goddard, Gibbs, Deledio, Enright, Adcock, Heppell, Stanley and his mids: Swan, Pendlebury, Boyd, Selwood, Swallow, Harris.

seems decent enough for me ;)

Ziplock

sorry, I completely overlooked goddard in the mids... I don't know his teams BE's off by heart, but are there any close to maxing out? Because then double trading out a rookie for jacobs and gets in shaw, then he'll have a killer backline, + a bit of cash floating around.

IMO pendles will price drop over the next few rounds, trading out curnow next round, or the round after to get pendles could be the go.
