Ziplock

So, pretty much stealing Marcz's idea here (which he gave me permission for), but since some in my league now know who I am, there's no real point in hiding my FF identity.

Hey, Ya'll know me as Ziplock, you might even know me as Luke, or Zarts, and probably 30 of you could know me as The Counselor. :P :-X

And this is my season blog. Obviously, it's round 7, so to jog my memory I'm going to be flipping back through my team history, just to get a gist of what is happening. Without any further rambling on, here is my round 1 team :D

Backs: Gibbs, Deledio, Heppell, Goddard, Broughton, Grimes, Lower (Toy, Stanley Duigan)
Mids: Swan, A Swallow, Cotchin, Harris, Foley, Ward (Prestia, Irons, Hibberd)
Rucks: Sandilands, Cox (Z Smith, J Tippett)
Fwds: Franklin, Goodes, Knights, N Riewoldt, Rioli, Higgins, Petrie (Krakouer, Matera, Richardson)

Week 1- Score 2169, Ranking 1800, League 1 and two match=won

Backs: Loopholed Gibbs, was very happy with his 147, so I took it as captain. Was also very happy with Grimes and Lower, reasonably with Goddard, with Heppell getting a passing grade. Disappointted with Broughton + Deledio scoring in the 70s, but overall, quite happy.

Mids: Swan's 137, need I say more? A Swallow was another gem with his 114, and Cotchin + Ward's pair of 91's were very pleasing. Disappointed with Goodes 76 (had subbed him into my mids for prestia), and was spewing over foley's 24 (especially as I had irons 76 sitting on the bench). Seriously, if your player  is showerting his pants and throwing up, you don't play him. Goddam gastro + coach.

Rucks: Sandilands 112 and Cox 142... incredibly pleased :D

Fwds: Rioli as my only forward to his 100 gets a special mention, as does Krakouers 98. Very disappointed with N Voldt, Franklin, Higgins scoring in the 70s, Knights while scoring likewise gets a pass as a mid pricer. Richardson's 61 was passable for a rookie, although lower than expected given his pre season form.

Overall, I was extremely happy. Pissed off about foley, as if I'd played irons, I would have come 300th, but you win some, you lose some, but I'll be keeping a tally this season of how many points I've lost through poor choices.

Points lost : 47

Round 2: Essentially, the same team, subbed off Chris Knights due to his bye, subbed goodes for Prestia and fielded Harris in the mids. No Trades made. Score= 2145, rank overall- 2317, league 1 and 2 match ups= won.

A little bit disappointed this week, nice score, but slid about 1000 ranks. Spewing. Here's a rough breakdown of my thought processes.

Backs: Gibbs, you beasted it again, got to say I was loving the man at this point. Grime's score was a little disappointing, but still far over a passing grade. Deledio redeemed himself in my eyes, passing the ton by three, and heppell did more than adequately, busting out an 80. Lower was a huge disappointment, down to 41 (although from memory he was the sub), which was a loss of 32 points as I had duigan (73) riding the pine. Toy + Stanley also did well, toy scoring over 50 in one half, and stanley finishing on 61. Broughton managed to disappoint, yet again, with a score of 61. Must say, was not a happy chappy with him.

Mids: Swan as captain, please, give me 2x 162 points ;). A Swallow only score 77 points, quite a disappointment, I wasn't pleased with that score at all. Ward + Cotchin both got over 80, let's have a big shout out to my unique mids for that one, and harris' 97 was really just icing on a very tasty cake. Foley, was a stinking POS once more, with only 55 points. Loss of 5 points there by having prestia ride the pine.

Rucks: Cox 118, Sandi 90, cannot complain there. Especially with Z Smith's 81, the rucks held up well.

Fwds: Really redeemed themselves. Rioli, Higgins, Goodes, all comfortably passing the ton. Riewoldt and Franklin Delivering passing scores of 90 and 87 respectively. Then comes Krak's sub affected 48, and Petries poor 61, loss of 9 points by having matera + Richardson riding the pine.

All in all, a respectable week. Loss of 46 points, and for me, Hibberds lack of playing and foley's showerhouse scoring meant they were on the chopping block.

Lost points tally- 93

Week 3, Won both league matches, even with only 1901 points scored, sliding me down to an overall rank of over 7000. SOAB. Not a good week.
Trades before price rises
Foley--> curnow
Hibberd--> Liberatore

A Swallow, Petrie, Richardson benched for the bye

Backs: Don't even get me started. Gibbs + Goddard just pass, with scores of high 80s, low 90s, and Heppell passes with mid 70s as does Lower (barely) with his 61. Broughton + Deledio scoring in the 50s did not help me. 43 points lost by having duigan + Stanley riding the pine with their pocket 75s.

Mids: Swan, 116, a score I can take as a captain. Curnow hitting the ton validates my trade in, as with Libba's 76. Cotchin + Ward were slightly disappointing with a 68 and 71, way down from their previous scoring, same with harris on 62. especially as I had Prestia's ton riding the pine. 52 points lost there as  Icould have subbed him with Krak.

Rucks: Can't fault them. Cox hits 127, and while sandi finishes short on 80, some soab did poke him in the eye. Not happy. Smith's 67 is a solid score, ignoring the fact he barely touched the ball in the second half.

And onto the fwds:
Higgins, Goodes, Voldt and Franklin all delivering the goods, passing (or close to) the ton. Rioli got injured at this point from memory, so he was riding the pine unfortunately. Krakouers 48 (not sub affected) was a blow, and highly aggravating, as was Matera's 45. Really aggravating scoring, would have been in serious trouble without captain swan. My only happiness was derivered from my trade ins of Libba + Curnow.

All in all, an absolutely horrible dream team week for me, only God know how I possibly managed to win two league matches.
Points lost tally: 188

Week 4- First multi bye round *menacing music* Score: 1992, overall position 8909, no trades made, no league matches.

Goddard, Liberatore, Ward, Nvoldt, Higgins All benched due to bye

Def: Gibb's scoring still way down from last two round, pretty depressing as he had such a good start, however, from a back, I'll take a high 80s score any day. Grimes and Deledio both redeeming themselves, once again, with grimes just falling short of the ton, and deledio easily surpassing it. Heppell and Duigan's 90+ were all greatly appeciated, and while Lower's lack of inclusion could have stung, what hurt more was having stanley's 55 cover instead of toy's 75. 20 points lost. Broughtons 55 put him on his last legs for me. I decided at this point to give him one more week, and if he showerted it up again next week, trade in adcock after his bye.

Mids: Captain Swan for 131 was pretty tasty, as was curnow's follow up 90. Goode's 70 odd managed to disappoint once more, but Cotchins ton, combined with A Swallows 118 sweetened the deal for me. Harris' 67 was disappointing, but not really that unexpected. With Irons having been dropped on his head, my bench was quite stretched, and I'd take 67 over a donut any day of the week.

Rucks: Dean Cox... well, you had to falter some point, delivering a sub 80 score. Not to worry though, as 211's nice 118 covered well for you. And Z Smith's 63 on the bench looked quite delightful as a potential bench keeper, or nice CC.

FWDS: Franklin, thank you very much for that 127, you're a bloody angel in an ugly ass disguise. Rioli.. 72... Oh well, I still love ya man. Knights had a very respectable 90, whilst krak, prestia, richardson and petrie really let me down, scoring 60 or below (with prestia on a measly 38), 12 point loss from having matera ride the pine.

I found this week passable in the rucks, nice in the mids, reasonable in defence, and bloody atrocious in the forwards.

Only 32 points lost that week, thank god.

Points lost tally: 220

Round 5: Multi Bye round V 2.0, score 2048, ranking 6400th
Trade: Broughton out, Adcock in
Riding the pine: Grimes, Goodes, Cox

Backs: Deledio, Heppell, Goddard and my new addition of Adcock, all surpassing the ton, or landing in the high 90s. Good efoort boys. Gibbs continues to disappoint with a score of 70, his average of 107 is seriously warped by those huge rd 1 + 2 scores. Lower's reinclusion with a 79 is a far cry from his rd 1 score, but still more than high enough to maintain his spot. Duigans 53 bit me, especially with stanley, once again on the pine with 75. 22 points down there.

Mids: Swanny Swanny Swanny. 104, really? Comeon bro, that is not up to scratch for you. You're supposed to be a dreamteam god. Curnow's 80 is way down on his other scores, but comeon, he's a rookie. Ward stayed drifting in the 70s, while Libba popped back up into the 80s. Cotchin landing near the ton was quite heart warming, as was A Swallow's 109. All in all, slightly depreciated scoring for my midfielders.

Rucks: Sandilands tons it up once again, while Z Smith performs admirably for a rookie and lands on 63.

FWDS: Only petrie surpasses the ton, with a huge 143. Wish I had punted on him for captain aye, a loss of 40 points there unfortunately.  Respectable scores of 90s and 80s from franklin, rioli, higgins, knights and N voldt, although Kraks lack of inclusion meant having to take richardsons sub affected 14. SOAB.

All in all, 62 points lost, still broke the 2k mark though, and managed to jump 2000+ positions to 6400.

Points Lost tally- 282

Round 6- Final multibye package. Still no league games, score 1807, overall ranking 5406
Trades: Richardson out, Jack Riewoldt in

Benched: Franklin, Rioli, Sandilands, Higgins, Lower, Harris

Backs: Gibbs, Goddard, Duigan very disappointg (mid 60s, 70s and 40s), with grimes, deledio, heppell and adcock scoring a pass from me, being very happy with adcocks, lids and heppell. Stanley and toy being benched cost 32 points.

Mids: Swanny.. Screw you. Again :P Seriously, not helping me mr auto captain. SOAB. Curnow (115) and cotchin (91) geet happy mentions for this one, while Ward and A swallow (54, 68) get very dishonorable mentions. barbies. Liberatore passes on 62... just...Loss of 24 points with harris benched.

Rucks: Dean cox, 121, why did I get greedy and not take you loophole FMDT. 31 points lost there. Smith on 51... Can't really expect much more from a rookie.

Fwds: This week was very wtf for me. N voldt, goodes, scoring in the 40s??? you guys are going to need to bounce back hard from that to get into my good books. Chris knights on 88 and J voldt on 91 both pass, I'm happy enough with my new trade (needed to save from donut). Krakouer... glad I kept the faith bro, reapid me good there :) Petrie passes with a 70, while matera gets classed only slightly higher than goodes and nvoldt with his score in the 40s as well.

56 points lost, bringing me to a current total of 338 points lost.

League games resumed this week, so I'll give you a current update on how I'm rolling.

Round 7- League games (2nd biggest match up this season), points scored: 1865, overall ranking: 6000, league one lost, league 2 won,
Trades: Irons--> hibberd (to cover a donut I was facing via mpp)
Duigan--> Ben Jacobs (he has to get games. Smashing SANFL and port blows.)

Yet to play: Gibbs, Curnow, Goddard, Riewoldt

Def: Heppell and  Adcock, I'm happy with. Deledio, did reasonably all in 80s or 90s. Whilst their scores weren't the highest, I can't really fault lower for his mid fifty and stanley for his mid 70. However, I just really really really want to0 make this clear
F UCK YOU GRIMES!
seriously bro, 6 points?!?! 6?!?! I mean, sure, if you'd gotten injured on 60, fine... but 6?!?!?! Very uncool. I lose 28 points by not having fielded Toy's 34, that's how bad it was. Grimes, you better hope to God montags is a late withdrawal and Duigan flops, because if I win my league match because of you, after my careful cover of donuts, my punts with captaincy, I'm going to be flowering pissed off. And for my last input, Goddard + Gibbs. Why is it my players always seem to rape eachother? Last week it was Gibbs + Goodes, this week Gibbs just dominated Goddard and made him his dog. Although, ftr last year it was worse... at one point I had a fwd from one team and a defender from another run into eachother on quarter time and take themselves out for the rest of the game. Gibbs, good effort, Goddard, not cool.

And Grimes out for the season... SOAB. (FTR I've talked about Goddard in my backs, even though I was forced to play him in my mids this round)

that rant being done...

Mid: Cotchin, Harris, Ward, all pass with lovely scores, with Cotchin tonning it and ward + harris in the 80s, nice guys. A Swallow, you got pumped, but I honestly saw that coming against geelong, with your easy run in the next couple of weeks, you better repay me. Curnow, 13, please, go emulate Barlow as much as possible... at least he had the decency to get injured late in the game!

Rucks: Cox tons up, CAPTAIN SANDILANDS GETS 129! Seriously, him and my opponent having captain chappy (honourable mention) is the only thing keeping me in this match up. Love you 211. Z smith also gets a mention for his ton, good effort my hombre'

Fwds: Franklin, disappointing. But I'm glad I didn't captain you, deadset though, should have been rampant against port. Goodes, you're very close to complete redemption, one more 120+ game and you're completely in my good books. Knights... look, not your fault, adelaide sucks. Still, abysmal score. Can my fwds just stop scoring 40s?!?! please?!?! Jvoldt, a little bit of a downer, but I predicted that score. (same with enrights sub 80 and chappy not reaching his BE :P ). Petrie, way to tank it considering you got flogged, and matera, that was solid. NVoldt. Reasonable, thank you, I'll take that after such an atrocious round.

FTR all, I only had 2 bench players playing this round.

Have fun all! Take this all in the spirit it was intended... that of montagna withdrawing this week, and of duigan scoring sub 40 :D

My current team (bold players are ones that need to go):
Backs: Gibbs, Deledio, Heppell, Adcock, Goddard, Grimes, Stanley (Lower, Toy, Jacobs)
Mids: Swan, Cotchin, A Swallow, Harris, Ward, Krakouer (liberatore, Curnow, Hibberd)
Rucks: Cox, Sandilands (Z Smith, Jippett)
Fwds: Goodes, Franklin, N Voldt, J Voldt, Knights, Petrie, Matera (Higgins, Rioli, Prestia)

points lost: this week 28 (yeeeah!) bringing me to a total of 366, the difference between 371 and 6000th :P
Fingers crossed higgins + Rioli can come back this round, so I can sub Higgins for Krakouer and Rioli for Matera...

:-X

Round 8: Playing my toughest league rivals. League one and 2 lost, score 2006, overall ranking 5400
Trades: Grimes to Enright
Curnow to Dal Santo
(and no, I do not want to go over how annoying  those were)

Backs: FVCK! My league oppenent went grimes to shaw, and I went to enright (despite having the cash for shaw). flower flower flower flower. Screw you enright and your 60. flower you shaw and your 120+. I think the word 'flower' sums it up (and ftr, that one wasn't actually censored, I typed it in the way it is :P ). Goddam. Heppell- scored 59.... disappointing for him, but with the consideration that he is a rookie, I can't really be upset, or expect any more from him. Adcock's 95 I'm still damn happy with, seriously, isn't he now the second highest avging defender? ily adcock. Stanley- nearly 90! you flowering beast! yeeeeah! w00t! Deledio's 99 I'm more than happy to take, whilst goddard... go find a pole and flower yourself. That goes for you too lower you soab. (as you can all see I'm very dirty about my league losses). Jacobs had a nice and tasty debut, I'm pretty happy I got him in

Mids: Captain Swan. Damn disappointing 4th quarter. Fortunately doesn't affect me much, as my opponent also captained swan. But, as I said, disappointing score. Not that I had much options to go with, I probs would have gone selwood had I had the chance, but, I don't have him. My only outside option was Goodes vs port. Swan, well enough I guess. A Swallow-... that really isn't good enough, I wish I had the planned trades to get you out now... but mate, you better lift you soab. Cotchin- I've got to say, I'm disappointed, but, considering how many dogs chopped up, I'm not surprised. Libba... I'm very very happy with you, and Ward, thank you a lot, you were the only thing keeping me in the game. Dal Santo, you're a filthy filthy SOAB, and I would trade you out right now from spite if I had the spare trades remaining. barbie.

Rucks: Sandilands and Cox, head to head was always going to tear points off one another. Good effort with your 90s, spewing I didn't field smith over one of you (I considered it).

Fwds: Krakouer. Honest to god, have not checked your points yet. 68 apparently, well, that's good enough I guess. Except my opponent had stevie J facing off against you. I think another flower deserves to be placed here. Where the hell did SJs points even come from? biggest goddam garbage time or what??? Goodes: yeeeeahahaha! 115, even I honestly didn't expect that from you, you flowering tank! Knights, I've got to say, lol at everyone who wanted to trade him out this week because his breakeven was so high. Comeon, how could anyone doubt him tonning it up against the goldcoast suns?? Petrie's 60 was a bit of a disappointment, especially considering North Melb dominated as well. Just a pain in the ass. Franklin, thank you, love you man. Shout out goes to Goodes as well for his tasty ton. Nvoldt... did you do anything at all 2nd half? like, at all?!?! Jvoldt, I'd like to say I'm disappointed, but honestly I brought you purely for the finals, and I was actually expecting just a flat 70 this week. So, kudos.

Points lost- 55, total: 421

RiOtChEsS

Great write up :-X

whispers r Higgins is missing again according to on the couch :(

Ziplock

soab better be back soon. I mean, it's not that bad for me atm as both me and my opponent have him, but it is really bugging me.

RiOtChEsS

yeah its giving me the showers, probably re evaluating my strategy this week tho which will increase my patience slightly... slightly :P

BGK

It's a good read mate. I will make sure I read it each week

Stocutz

Great write up will follow intently.

Don't believe the rumor Higgins will play was unluck to miss last week according to a Nate on the inside

Ziplock

Thanks a lot Marcz, Sotcutz and kai.... got to say, I was getting worried that it wasn't going to read/ appreciated after like 2 days and no responses :P

love4thegame

Haha alright no worries!

Spite

Oh man, I just calculated my total points lost because I though it was such a good idea... after getting to 542 points lost, I'm thinking I could possibly be the worst bench/last spot chooser on the planet. Would have pushed me into the top 50 or so with the right choices haha

Ziplock

oh man, that has to burn.

Oh ftr all, this week I'll be doing a 'live' update... basically, after each game at my nearest convenience (as soon as I can check the scores) I will be hoping straight on the blog and giving you my thoughts as they come to me. Sh1t is going down!

PowerBug

Like the rants, and the Adelaide comments, like where the team is heading. Unlucky with Higgins though. I started with him, and it was looking very promising. Rioli also mssing, very unlucky.

Ziplock

yeah, I'm pretty dirty about that... which'll feature strongly this week in my write up :P Unfortunately, with grimes and curnow to attend to, I have to hold for higgins still.
