Puopolo and Isaac Smith set to debut

2011 recruits Isaac Smith and Paul Puopolo are set to debut for the Hawks in Friday night’s match against Port Adelaide.

Smith, a Hawks first round selection (pick 19), has put in consistent high-level performances with the Box Hill Hawks earning his call-up to the Hawks’ senior side this week.

The 22-year old played in North Ballarat’s VFL premiership side in 2010 and was one of the Roosters’ standouts in that year, having only been drafted by the Roosters from Redan in the Ballarat League mid-way through the season.

Smith brings with him exceptional pace, endurance and agility to the Hawks’ side.

Similarly, Puopolo - a mature aged draftee at 22 - was recruited by the Club (fourth round, pick 66) having established himself in the SANFL as a hard working defender with Norwood Football Club.

Puopolo, who was recently awarded the Gibbs-Line Medal (best on ground) for Box Hill in their match against Coburg, is amongst a number of young Hawks players pushing for selection in the senior side.

finally a fwd/mid who is going to play. If he plays and pefroms decently this week and is named the week after i will be getting smith in so i can get didak out of the mids (stuck as no DPP)

I'm surprised that with popular choices like sylvia, chappy, krakouer, prestia, higgins etc. You can't dpp dids to forwards.

or do you mean that you just dont want a fwd premo in the mids?

ok i dont have krak, sylvia, presita or chappy. I do have higgins though but its either didak or pav stuck in the mid and if i get chappy its the same problem. What i really want is didak in my forward line and a guy like smith sitting on my mid bench opposed to callan ward sitting on my mid bench.
