Why the Demons game Thursday was so bad

Westcoast may not be a super team yet but they are one of few super clubs.
As long as we continue going up the ladder and have a good crack at the flag in 4 odd years then I'll be happy, unlike alot of other clubs that have sat at the bottom for decades. With the draft system set up to help struggling clubs I find it hard to believe that Melb like sides can't rise again to the clubs they were. But then again most Victorian clubs will continue to struggle due to lack of funds

Fireballz

Honestly I wish the eagles well but as long as the Sydney Swans keep having them for dinner then I'm happy  ;D

Memphistopheles

The Eagles are looking much better this year, but i don't think it should come as a surprise.

Although I am biased as an Eagles fan I always thought we had a lot of potential, it was just a matter of it clicking and getting our midfield sorted.

A lot of things

Darling was the pickup of the draft IMO and Gaff looks a quality player in the mould of Embley

LeCras is a dangerous forward, Kennedy is improving by the game and Lynch is grea now he doesn't have the pressure of being the number 1 tall forward.

With Naitanui and Embley also rotating through our forward line we have a the ability to cause plenty of problems for opposition defences. And then there is Darling

The key is getting the ball into attack and with Kerr back and Shuey on the rise Priddis now has some help to win the hard ball.

In the Selwoods we have a couple of great defensive/stopper/tagging midfielders who can shut down teams who only have a couple of guns. They are also reasonable at winning the hard ball, especially Scott.

Glass being fully fit also helps as he can shut down one of the oppositions best forward every week. All we need is one of MacKenzie and Brown to step up in the other key defender role.

Waters injury is a blow, but more because of his presence and courage, as Butler is a more than adequate replacement IMO.

Hurn’s booming kick is useful in beating the zoning tactics and Nicoski already looks a better player in his new role

Finally Cox is back to his best, which is also a massive boost, but he has always been a gun when fully fit.

I think we will play finals this year, if we can keep our noses above the chasing pack - teams like Melbourne, Richmond, Adelaide etc.

in all honesty, I hold no love for the eagles, but they have been looking reasonable. Won't walk home with the flag, but may push the 8. We'll see how everyone lifts in the end of the season.

Holzman the perpetual skeptic.

still, it will take the Eagles beating a decent team (rather than just loosing to two) for the vic media and by extension you guys to take West Coast seriously. Im actually fine with that cause it means the day the Eagles start to dominate the leagueagain it will be oh so much sweeter.

im a roos supporter im used to supporting a team that everyone doesn't respect. I can remember in 2007 when the roos were tipped by most to finish bottom and they ended up 4th. Sure the eagles have a potentially good team ,but than again so does melbourne.

If the eagles can win atleast 2 of there next 4 than they are the real deal, but so far they have beat a shcoking meblourne, port adealdie who are probably just aboce GC and scraped in against a roos team with no big men at home .

Ziplock

^ with their current form, GC will be bottom four easily (personally, I think they'll lift). Port will be bottom four almost certainly, and I doubt melbourne will make the 8. I dunno if I would call hawthorn or sydney top 4 either... maybe pushing on the edge.

Basically, they've had an easy draw, let's see how they do against the cats, pie, dogs and even bombers + freo imo

browny_wce

compare to last year....Eagles are a super team!
the next 4 rounds will deff prove to be big or bust for the west coast
theyll be a genuine threat if they can knock off 2 of them, if one of those 2 are collingwood.... SUPER!

Ziplock

oh yeah, but compared to last years eagles, by feces are a super team.

Bluke

We are eagles supporters holzman, we get no respect either. Much less than North IMO. Vic media has always hated the eagles, just need to listen to the commentary on fox/7/10...

i agree with you on the Victoria thing but the roos have no fans anywhere i live in WA so to me the eagles and freo seem to be always pumped up. Dont get me wrong i like the eagles and i would probably list them as my second team, along with gellong. Darling was a huge pickup and kerr and cox back makes tham a decent team, that will likely finish just inside or just outside the 8. I cant really tell if the comentators are biased against the roos as the only time i get to watch them is when they play west coast, freo or collingwood.
