ando_10,

This is the way I see it.  The plan was always

1. Have him as a keeper and average 100

2. The moment he shows the slightest chance of niggles/missing weeks/etc, PROFIT and UPGRADE him ASAP

So, really, a lot of Higgins owners should have kind of pre-empted this and sideways traded him last round.  Personally, I am not going to take the risk because he has a history, so I will be upgrading him.

As for Adcock, I will be doing exactly the same the moment he shows any signs.
+1 Traded him last week for premium midfielder using his MPP.

Like Charliesheen I will also be watching Adcock and also Chapman for any signs but do not know whether people will agree on Chappy.

tigerboy

people knew the risk with durability when they got him. its a risk thats hasn't paid off

missed out on jroo last week as i didnt want to trade out krakour just yet (probably ended up working out for me!) and jroo still has a low b/e, anyone think of any better ins for the injured higgins?

charliesheen

Well I am playing it safe, I could be totally wrong.

If he misses it 2 weeks, and comes back firing, you could be laughing when everyone traded him out.

For those looking @ upgrades and didn't sideways trade jroo last week, there are a heap of fallen forward premium options or you could go for up and comers like Fyfe/Dawes.

I was actually against the Fyfe trade originally, but after seeing a lot of his games, I am not actually against the idea anymore even at 470,000.

Be funny if you go Higgins > Chappy, and Chappy does his hammy, ouch ^^

Ringo

Depending on cash you have you could look at Chappy.

Also if you wish to take a risk based on last years form you could look at Lecras coming back from injury.

charliesheen

The best way is to have a look at all the premium forwards, their current and expected price changes, their byes, and upcoming oppositions.

Look for anomalies in prices and take a note of when you expect theses prices to bounce back.  This may mean you may want to consider delaying some trades if they have difficult oppositions in the future.

So your highest priority would be choosing premiums that are likely to be out of reach, if you don't make the trade now.

scotty_222

silly.. there is a slight chance he may still play
just being on the safe side.
i wouldnt trade him.
one of the better forwards going around atm

surely u have enough to cover him for another week if need be

many people would argue, to be on the safe side you would trade him, given his injury history.

its a 50/50 call I think, and is not as black and white as you make it.

you simply work with the information you have, and that is not a hell of a  lot.

the problem is not whether he misses, its whether you EXPECT to see a decline in performance in future weeks due to this.

Blueboys

I have had him for the last 3 years and sick of him missing due to injures. thats why I don't selected him from the start.  :P

Griffo1982

higgins is always injured so if you have him in your team i wouldnt be trading him sideways unless he's LTI & from what i've heard he isnt.

im an avid doggies supporter and i have a lot of time for shaun higgins. all pre season i said on this exact website and to other mates, not worth the risk with injuries. sure to be sure, he's gone for not only the rd 6 clash yesterday against collingwood but i hear whispers he'll be out till west coast in rd 9. risk v reward is a big thing is SC but with guys like higgins and adcock, it's just a suicide mission
At the moment there just whispers. So your just talking showere. Obviously jealous you dont have him. As far as i know he played the entire game against freo and came up sore after game, and dodgies didnt want to risk him against the pies. Since there was a league bye last round it still hasnt affected me. And as far as i know he is ranked 3rd in averages in the forwards. If ? he is injured i will then make a judgement on wether he was a good pick or not, not becuase you say so  >:(
so when do i say i told you so? you flog

juzztheball

went with chappy, only because jroo is too inconsistent and higgins is too injury prone. had him last year and he didnt light my world on fire. as a diehard doggies supporter i love him and the way he goes about his footy but u gotta pick with ur head, not ur heart!

ando_10

yeah true higgins is gone next week i have chappy at the moment got him in for yarran.
so not sure who i should go to next week maybe mpp i.smith with higgins and get a good mid.??

My gut reaction is I'm going to wait and see if it's more than a one week thing. As a general rule you don't trade out a guy averaging 100 unless you HAVE to and to be brutally honest. I have more pressing concerns than Higgo

However if he's not back NEXT week.....Helloooooo Scott Pendlebury
