CFML aim high. aka Cold Fusion Markup Language, runs in conjunction with java or even as stand alone .NET server. Back in the day CF was the bomb especially in handling database and manipulation of vector graphics. Adobe claimed CF a few years back and it is more tangible now than ever. Based on c/c++ I have used it since 1997. I could go on and on about CFML, easier to Google it.

PS. This little sucker would be on my DT if I could. He plays any KPP with such efficiency and class.

Only useful once you have a grounding in the basics though.

Can't agree with you more though. My part time job (currently my only source of income as I go to uni and start up a business) involves me developing in ColdFusion. It is such a well designed language and platform however if anything is becoming less popular simply because of the cost. PHP and ASP/ASP.net are free and are very well known by a large amount of developers. Hence not only are those options cheaper to run because they are free, but you can hire good staff at lower prices as it isn't as specialised.

I find ColdFusion amazing to work with, however, the remainder of the year in my job (before I leave at the end of the year and leave uni) is going to be spent porting all existing functionality from CF to ASP.net. Kinda sucks....

I know CSS...But that stuff is easy. C++ would kill me. I will probably take some kind of class on it one day but yeah :P

Ahh what type of business? And unfortunately you are right on the cost side of things.

Even still, given that you have some knowledge in that area, javascript might be a good way for you to build up to C++ if you are interested. There are some good tutorials on javascript on the W3Schools website.

HTML/CSS is very self teachable. I taught myself and the W3Schools stuff is better than what I used to teach myself.

Education. They had a primarily in-house developed Intranet that I maintained and added a great deal to over the past 4 years. Now we are getting a package and I am porting over what we want that isn't covered by the package. ASP.net made sense given the new package is ASP.net based and a few other aspects of the Intranet are as well.

gl with it Q, CSS is fairly simple to learn, C, C++ etc. are much more complex, i didn't have the patience to learn them :P

Alex7089

Ah OK so my (limited) understainding of HTML and CSS could help me learn C++? As I said I will probably tackle it when I have more time on my hands. Holidays seems ideal would a couple of months be long enough to learn the fundamentals Hawk?

yes, knowing javascript will help you more then HTML and CSS as hawk said though, the time taken depends on how quickly you learn and understand things well

You know CSS? Well done  ;) Just out of curiosity did you have to learn it for a class or something or did you learn it because you wanted to?
