After that Fletch call I'm not sure I understand the hands in the back rule. I mean I do, but it is ridiculous now...It was better whn you had to PUSH them not PLACE your hand there. As Tom Harley said that is just incidental contact when you are trying to mark the ball from behind...Fletch out-positioned and out-marked Dawes yet he got the free and goal.

The problem is the actual rule and not the umpiring then. The umpires had to give that free kick because the rule says hands in the back meaning even if they just touch them. It's a crap rule, but it is there.

Pendles pretty much wins every medal. Its in his nature to get a lot of the ball and dispose of it well. Will always be around the ball getting tackles, marks and clearances... So as CF said, it was a pretty safe bet.
