playing port means squat !!! anything could happen. however one ray of sunshine does not a summer make. midpricers are midpricers, because they are coming back from injury, are injury prone, tribunal prone or just plain middle of the road players. you should know that you get what you pay for, but you buy a middle pricer because he is fairly priced and you believe/hope that this is his breakout year. unfortunately it very rarely happens

Yes, but there is a big difference between purely speculative midpricers and midpricers who have previously had very good years and are heavily discounted. Guys like (repeating myself, I know) Waters and Malceski last year were obviously better picks than other players in their price range, and they lived up to their potential. Taking risks on good players who are heavily discounted due to injury pays off more often than you might think.

He's had a wild night up forward. Rested in the ruck. They'd a won if Boomer didn't need shots in the last.

yeah it does but i myself went higgins over petrie much better risk imo but still a big risk with higgos injury history.

DT87

It's a bit hard to compare Higgins with Petrie, because Higgins was $130k more expensive. Higgins should average more, but probably not by enough to justify the huge price difference.

Holz

Higgins and Petrie are both players that people should have seriously considered, higgins had been a great pickup and i see petrie doing this quite alot, a few poorish games and than a couple of 100+ games thrown in around it.  He is now averaging just under 90 and looks like a 80+ average is very possible. i see him getting 80+ next week.

LF

but difference is higgins is most definately a keeper hence saving a trade and petrie is only a possible keeper.

Quotepossible keeper.
+1.

yeah and the ohter difference is that petrie didnt cost much more than swallow, and the money i saved going hom over another forward premium i was able to upgrade a back rookie to adcock so there is a trade saved there. Also petrie should be only a double trade away from chappy, wheras a rookie mught need a triple trade to get there.

Higgins is a keeper 'til he breaks. So's Petrie, I guess, but who do you reckon breaks first?

Same could be said for Malceski, Waters of last year.

petrie actually has a fantastic record for not getting injured up untill his injury last year, so i would say if he is over that he is much less likely to go down.  I would say he is one of the least injury prone guys in the comp, guys like  judd i would say are more likely to miss.

Master Q

I had Petrie on the bench with Smith on the field  >:(

Chris Knights is also looking like a good pick and a keeper and he started at roughly a similar price. He also came with his risks...and still does being injury prone. I didn't go with Petrie and I'm certainly not kicking myself over not getting him cos of 1 good score
