if your talking Xbox, pretty sure you hold down the right trigger while pressing the kick button, i harldy ever use it its very hard to get a big torp and then most of the time you compirmise on accuracy.

PS3 actually but some of these achievements are hard. Kick a torpedo goal kick a banana goal. they are the hardest that i am aiming to get atm

On PS3 hold on R2 when kicking. Very simple and it tells you in the manual ;)

ive done that a heap of times but the ball just sails straight across the goal face and yes i know that you can only do it from the boundary... i must be missing something

Next time you mark in the square or 15 out just torp it through ;)
