yer when i sub swan off and say gaff on and make swan emergency who do i make captain??
Gaff will be your captain automatically If Swan was... Make sense? Its the same thing as if for example Gaff was emergency and you sub him on for Swan, then by default Swam becomes emergency. My only concern is if Gaff is selected as captain then will your VC be assured to score double?

ok guys ive got swan captain and goddard vice if i am happy with goddards score i will sub swan off make him emerg and make gaff captain my worry is that swan will come onto the ground for gaff AND take over the captaincy. you get me????
Just say this did happen then its not the end of the world... because if its a normal round then you'd have swan as captain anyway... Although that said I am fairly sure that you would get swans score, yes, but your VC would still get double score..

Head Coach

I agree with you j959m, if swan isnt going to be your captain (ie Goddard gets a huge score) then dont involve Swan in this mess at all... (Assuming the sub wont become captain for the 0 scoring selected captain). Also its impossible for me to do this in my midfield because every one of my midfield players will score this week... so I will have to do it in my forward line...

Head Coach

Also there is one major point that no one has covered yet. If this tactic is to be employed then what is the critical score for your VC to get? How high do they have to score for the call to be made to make them score double? Im thinking 130+?

possible fall down of the loophole

with games on monday ESS-COLL + FRE-W/DOGS and Tuesday CATS-HAWKS, if there is a late withdrawal
from these games you could possibly have to wear the 0 from the guy you put on field as capt ( non playing )

eg: Goddard scores a healty 130 SC Thursday. You sub Swan off ( and make emergency ) for say Goodes or a non playing player to put big C on. Then come Monday / Tuesday say Boyd, Libba or Bartel are late withdrawal then you are stuck with Goodes 0. You would not risk the second emergency in mids.
Wouldn't matter what variation or field position you apply this too.

For mine lock and load Swanny and set and forget

Yes this is true, although the chances a player being withdrawn really isn't that high depending on the players you have on the field in the given position. A question I have is, if you have two 0 scoring players on the field for a position, and two emergencies in that position, will you get both of the emergencies scores? Yes this would mean not having a sub in another position, but here is my scenario... I have 3 players in my fwd line with the bye this week so having an emergency there is useless anyway. A further question... If you have one 0 scoring player in your mids and two scoring emergencies in you mids, which emergencies score will you get?

CFC 1979

if you have 2 emergencies in the one line ( say mids ) and you get one donut then the lowest score counts from the emergencies.

as well if you have 2 emergencies in the one line and 2 donuts then both count

in scenario 1 hence the risk of having a premium on the bench and having 2 emergencies on his line

Head Coach

Therefore bench your number 6 mid... not someone like Swan...

CFC 1979

yep that would work

i think we all got lucky rnd 1 with gibbs

Head Coach

yeah after all this discussion Goddard or whoever will probs come out and score below 100 and Swan will be captain as usual. So now its just a matter of seeing what happens tomorrow night

well if you are going to do it would put c on cox and emerg in the ruck.

loophole this, loophole that, just make swannie capatain and BANG problem solved :)
Otherwise known as the K.I.S.S. method - Keep It Simple Stupid  ;)

Don't overthink this guys, go with the proven track record. If you plane against the grain you'll end up taking chunks out of your team's scoring potential.

But at the same time you have to take every advantage you can get... Dont go into your shell and be afraid of anything different...

garos888

so if i set rooey as VC and cox as C with sandi emergency and im not happy with rooeys score can i then change the captaincy off cox to swan????

or is the captain locked to that position? so if rooey doesnt do to good bring on sandi and he will be captain

Head Coach

You can change your captain selection after tonights game. So if your VC doesnt score well enough, it just becomes like any other round, select Swan as captain...

The SC site doesn't say anything about bye players not being locked out on Thursday, so tread carefully.

but it does say only st kilda and brisbane are, bye players are not locked out in any normal round til lockout, as mentioned in one of the other bye topics, GC players who had the bye round 1 were not locked out.  ONLY PLAYERS WHO'S TEAMS HAVE PLAYED  ARE LOCKED OUT EARLIER
Round 1 is slightly different due to it being the first lockout. Anyway, here is what the SC website says:
- If you have selected a Captain, Vice Captain and/or any Emergencies from your Brisbane or St Kilda players prior to the Thursday night, they can NO longer be de-selected or changed. If you did not, these options will remain available to you through to the full lockout on Saturday afternoon, for players from the remaining 6 matches.

Does not mention bye players. So again, just be careful.
