Hey guys.
Here's my team:

22 trades are left, 7,500 in the bank.

I'm still new to supercoach, any ideas on who i should be trading, and when?
All thoughts welcome.

Cheers

Think you have made a mistake with 6 premium mids but it is your first year.
Once your rookies get a high breakeven (around rounds 7-10) downgrade them to other playing rookies who have played 2 games, and use the cash to upgrade maxed out rookies to bottomed out premiums (eg. JRoo has dropped considerably, but a proven scorer from last year.)

Hope I helped :)

Ringo

Agree with Macca usually have 3 - 4 premiums in each position.  Another Option for forward upgrade is J Brown. Watch when he returns as his price should also go down given return of only 65pts round 1. Also keep an eye on rookies to ensure they are still playing as there is doubt with both Pedersen and Richardson at North. Gary Ablett's price is still falling so whther you want to trade him out before he looses to much is up to you.  As a suggestion you could look at downtrading to Fyfe and using the extr 220k to get a mid price 370k forward or defender by trading Richardson or Pedersen.

Thanks guys
i was considering getting fyfe. And was worried about the north melbourne boys.
Ablett though? I still think he's going to improve as his side improves.
What about downgrading bolton instead?

JimMundy93

i honestly dont think ablett is worth 631k
however with coad going down with a hammy for 3 months and pederson not playing i suggest using a double trade and getting rid of ablett for someone like harris

with about 400k+ made from that trade you can trade coad for a deledio or a newman or even a bulldogs player in either lake, gilbee or bob murphy

Ringo

Would not downgrade Bolton just yet.  I have had him in my Team from the beginning and and at this stage am not considering trading trading him (Increase in Value $51,600 and average score 121 despite his 56 last week).  Agree that Ablett may come good but can you afford price drops till he does.  I am keeping a watch on him and will look to bring him in when he appears to have bottomed out and price between 450 and 500k if he is playing well enough.  Not sure what his break even score is this week but I would expect it to be considerable so you may be looking at a price drop of $50k or more.

coolfugitiv0

Hmm. Would it be worth trading Ablett for a rookie? (preferably a dual-pos player who can switch between forward and mid)
then i'll have a decent amount of cash for upgrading coad, and richardson as well?

JimMundy93

well unfortunately the only player who is cheap and playing fwd/mid is krakeour from collingwood
however with the bye for collingwood round 7 im not sure if you have the depth to get him in

how much you willing to spend on abletts replacement?

coolfugitiv0

as i said, i'm still new to supercoach. I'd rather listen to others on what i should do rather than trusting myself as i'm still learning.
How much should i be willing to spend? I have 7,500 left.

JimMundy93

well what i would do is swap ablett for a good mid price player
maybe a nathan fyfe from fremantle or a shaun higgins from bulldogs

this leaves enough money to upgrade coad or pederson to a young player like otten or even trade one of them fro toy

because next week you lose enright and suckling from your backline

Ringo

Agree in part with Jim I would down trade Ablet $631,900 to Fyfe $417800 or Higgins $403,000 My preference is Fyfe but either would and both are MPP to your forward line as well, Both will go up in price this week as well so now is the ideal time to trade.  Higgins BE score 46, Fyfe -20 and Ablet 196.

I would wait till Teams are announced on Thursday and if Richardson not included I would trade to Yarran.  If Richardson plays I would look at trading Coad to Josh Toy ($110,600) who has a break even of -28 and this price will rise also.
Not sure whether the link I have attached works from here but you can type into browser any way.  This is where I obtain my break evens score.

Would it be worth looking at Drew Petrie in my forward line?
Seems cheap and his price is set to rise, leaving me with cash to upgrade someone else. Or don't worry?
Am I right in thinking that it wouldn't matter having too many from Carlton as they don't have a bye in a multi-bye round?

Thanks for your help guys.

Ringo

Carlton has single byes in Round 8 and Round 23.  So basically if you are still playing your league knock out prelim you will loose Carlton Players and may want to strengthen team for this round.  My strategy is too keep at least 6 trades for finals so I can sub premiums for like premiums eg Judd to Pendles as Collingwood have had all byes.

IMO better forward options than Petrie if looking to strengthen team.

DO NOT TRADE ABLETT!!! Premium players are players that are picked for the season, you should only trade them because of LTI's nothing else, it doesn't matter if they lose some money because they're not to be traded hence this means you haven't really lost any money! Stay patient with these premium players, you will see the benefits at the end of the season when other people have ran out of trades because they have SIDEWAYS TRADED throughout the season.

By the way, the idea of this game is to have as many high scoring players as you can, as quickly as you can, so the idea of trading a premium player defeats the purpose of what you are trying to achieve.
There is a thread in the sc strategy forum called "trades - how to use them" by sid3bysid3 it is worth having a look at, to give you a better idea of how to use your trades more wisely :)
