Has anyone watched this show? Coming to One soon, but been watching it online and I think it is hilarious!  :)

Basically the show is about Ricky Gervais's idiotic friend Karl Pilkington as he gets send to see the wonders of the world and experience the culture of those countries. Extremely funny and I would recommend watching it :)

Isn't that the guy off the NRL footy show?

CrowsFan

I wouldn't think so, but don't watch the NRL footy show.
Ricky Gervais is an English comedian who also made the tv shows The Office and Extras. Karl is his friend who is a moron and Ricky always makes fun of during his stand up shows

Maca24

yeh the Ricky Gervais Show is so funny when he just pays out on Karl :)

Alex7089

I saw an add for it on one.
Comparing him to a real life Homer Simpson :P

'If the pyramids were in my town the council would tear them down, those things are a hazard!'
Or something like that, it was good :P

CrowsFan

No they are a death trap not a hazard :P

When he gets to them he says it looks like a giant game of jenga gone wrong haha :D

Alex7089

Haha!
Well close enough :P
It looks like a really good show I know I will be tuning in and may even watch some episodes tonight if I get bored -- Running out of movies to watch D:

Justin Bieber

'Otherwise you would be by yourself, and we wouldn't see it on the telly'
;D

'Who the chinese?'
Reply: 'They just wreck everything, that's what I'm worried about'
'Like what?'
'Chicken. Why is it orange in China?'

Have watched the series... hilarious. Twice as funny if you have listened to the Ricky Gervais Show. Great podcast!

Both Ricky and Steve met Karl when they hosted their Saturday radio show on XFM. He was their producer. You can find copies by less than legal methods online if you know where to look.

The great thing about listening to the original XFM show as opposed to the podcasts and the subsequent animated show based on the podcasts is that Ricky and Steve haven't heard the stories and opinions of Karl yet. They hear them as they go along, so it isn't just Karl that is funny, but Ricky's reactions to them in particular that are hilarious. He often gets quite angry and abusive towards Karl. Karl is also a but more natural. He doesn't play up to it as much. Sometimes he laughs a bit at the reactions of Ricky and Steve where as in the podcasts he is very deadpan.

As for An Idiot Abroad, it is also quite an interesting travel show as well as hilarious. I thought the Indian episode in particular was really interesting. The footage of Machu Picchu and Petra was absolutely amazing. I never realised the scale of these places. You only ever see the standard tourism shots which go no where near to doing these places justice.

One of my favourite episodes is when he goes to Mexico. This is just a sample of what he says!

"It's like everyone's daring each other to do something stupid. 'Get on a cow! Get on a bull! Let's have a wrestle! Here, eat a worm!"

Oh an you're right hawk, the actual footage of what they see and are doing is amazing. Especially Machu Picchu and Christ the Redeemer. Those views are breath taking!
