For those who like to watch F1 we can talk about it here :)

Anyone see the qualifying yesterday for the China GP? Webber didn't make it out of Q1 and so is starting 18th on the grid :o :o
Vettel as usual has qualified first with Button second and Hamilton third.
Webber had been having problems with his car and decided to use the hard tyres to save his softs for race day, but turned out to be the wrong choice. If he had used the soft tyres he would have qualified much higher up...

Hmm I guess no one likes F1. No one has even looked at this thread...

Lol CF. I LOVE F1  :P  Haven't missed a race since 1992.

It really seems like Red Bull Racing are pumping their resources into Vettel's car rather than Mark Webber's. Understandable considering the huge benefits they will get from endorsements and sponsorship if Vettel dominates. Vettel has been their project for 5 years now, and I fear that Webber will become Red Bull's guinea pig to allow Vettel to thrive.

This afternoons race has the potential to be extremely boring, with Vettel being 0.7 seconds faster than the rest of the field in qualifying. The interest could only be for remaining podium positions if Vettel drives off into the distance.

CrowsFan

Yeah does seem that Webber is now the number 2 driver at Red Bull. That makes me sad, but as you said it is understandable they have made Vettel the number 1 driver. Obviously Webber isn't happy about this and may decide he wants to move teams, but if he did where would he go where he still had a chance or winning? McLaren are a British team and very happy with Button and Hamilton. Then there is Ferari, but again he would probably be treated as the number 2 driver behind Alonso.
After that there aren't really any cars quick enough for him to challenge with so should probably just stay at Red Bull.

You are right that the race for first today will probably be quite boring since Vettel is so much quicker than everyone else, so unless there are a few safety cars or one of the McLaren's can get ahead of him from the start he will pretty much be guaranteed the win. Will be interesting to see how far up Webber can get starting from 18th. Should pass most of them because of his car, especially down the long back straight, but anything could happen!

Bazinga

Don't be surprised if Webber is last after the first turn. His kers still isn't functioning and this is a massive disadvantage at the start. Will be interesting to follow his progress during the race though.

CrowsFan

WOW in what we thought may have been quite a boring race actually turned out to be the most exciting race I have seen in some time!
Webber went crazy once he had his third pit and ended up on the podium in third place!! Amazing stuff by him considering all the problems he has had. Started in 18th and couldn't use the KERS yet managed to still go past drivers on the straight!
Well done to Hamilton too for winning it.

Cicjose

Webber has no chance at the championship unless Vettel crashes out or his car stuffs up (both very unlikely to happen)

Hulmie

F1 lost it's excitment when it took out the strategic aspect of it.

Strategy is back this year though with the change in tyres. Vettel looked like he would win comfortably on the weekend, but his tyres wore out at the end cos he only did 2 pits, Hamilton did 3 so his tyres were much fresher so managed to get past him for the win

Hulmie

Ah k i didn't know that. I still wish they had the refueling though.

CrowsFan

Yeah refueling would be nice to bring back. But as I said earlier the race on the weekend was the most exciting I have seen in a long long time

I have already watched a replay of the race 3 times this week. It was the best race since Jenson Button won his first ever GP at Hungary in 2006.

F1 has been very boring lately, but the Chinese GP has got me excited about a very competitive season ahead :)

Webber on pole in Spain, followed by Vettel and Hamilton. Webber had a slow start to 2010 and almost won the championship. Lets hope he can start his 2011 campaign with a win in Spain  8)
