A possibility, or just an idea

Look, I'm sure people will be dog about this and tell me to just suck it up, but I think it kind of has to be put out there, even though I know it won't be implemented.

Basically, Swan is everyone's auto captain, all the people who didn't pick him start of this year must be pretty pissed with themselves atm, but having Swan as auto captain just means everyone gets the same 2x boost from him (and yes, I am aware that only like 50% of teams have him etc. etc.). So really, what would make the game more interesting would be to give a points boost to the vice captain as well (maybe 1.5x) and then just have a dedicated 'leadership group' on a player who acts as an emergency should either one of your captains go down. Because seriously, is there really a person who you could call a lock for vice captain? Like, I know that people without Swan have to make difficult decisions every week.

I'm just saying, it would really split up the teams + scoring a hell of a lot more.

Or, you could just remove Dane Swan from DT :P

anyway, that's my idea (the first point, not the removing of swan... that'd just be moronic :P )

It sounds like it could be a good thing to make the game more interesting but on the other hand i can see why it would be annoying, picking a wrong captain already really hurts your team. If you picked 2 bad captains and the rest of your team fires than someone whose team doesn't perform and had 2 gun captains could beat you, which could be very annoying.

say this week if you had Cox Captain and Judd VC than you are going to be in huge trouble against a team that has Swan captain and Mitchell VC.

I like the idea however i can see how it could make having an overall team less important, it would also mean that everytema would need to have 2-3 super premiums for byes and restings, so would force more people to have swan and another gun like boyd or goddard.

There is something i have been thinking about, you cant pick the same captain 2 weeks in a row, probably wont be very popular and abit complex but would make it alot more interesting.

Or maybe you have to pick a captain from a different position, like FWD, DEF etc. Each week, but you choose which order to go in for that month....

would make the game alot morei interesting as most weeks when i dont trade i just move my subs around abit and just leave the team how it is. DT is becoming more and more about luck, this might add abit more skill into the game. Has no chance of happening though, as the afl rightly caters more to the people who dont take it too seriously.

dont like the idea of picking from different lines, for the MPP reason. Also will force people to have a cox or sandi as one of your rucks.

i dont like this i dont wont any spuddy port player in my team. This year i have no port, sydney and now no richmond players with foley gone.

Well I dont have Swan and I am perfectly happy about it. My strategy is that everyone has him and he has byes in R7 and R13 which is about when I intend to pick him up. Hopefully he will get injured or Pendles will take over as the Pies gun. So far I have lost out to R1 ibbs 147 +20 pts, R2 Gibbs 144 Swan 162 - 36, R3 Boyd 125 Swan 116 +18, R4 Pendles 121 Swan 131 -20 = which leaves me down 20 pts so far and the extra cash to play with. Its also cool to think about who will be Capt each week. But the real reason I do not have Swan is that I'm a Carlton supporter and it goes against the grain to have him as my dream team captain as it would be more of a nightmare than a dream!!!!

you might not be losing that many points as captain but remeber your also losing the 130+ points average he is having aswell.

Well that is true but it is also true that the money I have saved by not buying the danish lovebird can be used elsewhere on the my list. Its all about improvement on the players you bought and at the moment the danish lovebird is scoring well and so are some of my list who are scoring above there purchase price.

AFL clubs dont have a different captain every game.

I like it the way it is. A bonus for VC couldnt hurt though
