Same here (Studio 15. Used to be one of the best Dell laptops around) except I think the Wifi card or something to do with the wifi inside the computer is really stuffed up, so now I'm stuck on this HP desktop  :P I really want to sell my laptop and get a Dell Netbook as I have this for the things that need Highpower, plus I only use the Internet for FF and FTP now  :P

Don't go Dell for a netbook.

For value for money go either for a Lenovo or Asus. Both the cheapest but ironically the best built as well.

I hate Asus's netbooks.

Asus have a lot. Some are sub par, mainly because they are just too low spec and focus on linux distros. More recently they have focused on Windows based models have tend to start at your basic 10 inch screen, 1.6 GHz, 1GB RAM and 6 cell battery and move up. These are much better than the old ones.

My personal favourite is the Lenovo. Very solid and durable. Very cheap. Come with a but of bloatware, but no worst than anyone else and no where near as bad as someone like HP.

Then fork out for Windows...
Then fork out a 800% surcharge on accessories, which you will need to connect to anything that isn't USB....

Most people. It often comes with hardware but you have still paid for it in the total cost.

When people upgrade or install Windows on a machine that didn't come with an OEM copy, the majority of people still pay.

It isn't explicitly a surcharge, you just pay 5 times what you normally would for the same piece of hardware. A good example is
Apple's display adaptors. Look along the side of a Macbook and you will see a lot of proprietary and very uncommon ports.

Even with USB, which granted a lot of stuff uses, but you will always have a few things like power and display that don't. However, Apple has even made people buy Apple branded USB devices by putting a non-standard notch into the USB port.

Spot on. They are are probably the best marketing company in the world. That encompass a lot of things, not just traditional 'ads', but creating and maintaining a brands and associated culture. It is truly amazing from that perspective.

You seem to be forgetting the massive markup on the actual Hardware compenents that make up the PC or MAC, for 1500 i can literally build something twice as good then what MAC charges for there overprices crap
