wondering if prestia will be the sub this week? or cam richardson? i really dont want to pick a player on field who is a sub....again.

SydneyRox

Yup, just off the phone from Bluey and Scotts was at my place this week. Both going to start as subs, Bluey plans on Prestia starting in 15th min of 3rd quarter, where Brad wont bring Richardson into the game until 4th unless there is an injury

Hope this helps  :o

Keep it quite though, dont want everyone to know  :-X :-X :-X :-X

Ziplock

nope :P

honestly though, I really doubt they will be the subs.

i mean what piece of advice are you hoping to get from this question???? no one knows, and anyone giving you advice and actually thinking it is meaningful is knob. Just have an educated guess..everyone is going to get burned throughout the year.. Its just one of those things

I don't recon McKenna or Scott have 100% decided who will be the sub yet so how would we have a clue at all.

+1 i dont think any coach even knows how to use sub to their full pottential, or even know what an ideal sub is.

I think we can make some educated guesses from what we have seen from coaches and player performances so far this season.

What we Know

Seaby as sub was a fail

Conners as sub was a fail

Palmer as sub was neither here nor there

Anthony as sub was neither here nor there

Rohan as a sub was a success

Gaff as a sub was a success

What we can deduce from this...

Clubs wont start a ruckman as a sub, or at least I doubt Sydney will again.
Clubs will start running players and guys with x factor as subs.
Clubs will start rookies who can run and kick a goal as subs.

Last week we had Gaff, Davey, Rohan, Bruce, Christensen, Peake, Davenport, Bewick, Morton, Edwards, Davis, Collins, Magin, Stack, Walters and Martin

Looking at that cross section of players, it is clear that most are young, most are relatively fast and most can kick a goal.

Thus, I would suggest that its possible Prestia could potentially line up as the Sub. However, I believe he too important a player for GC. He has a bigger body and wins the ball, two things many of his team mates struggle with (not to mention the fact GC seem to have a wealth of young runners who can kick a goal, Weller, Matera, Illes etc).

Richardson plays defence, and will line up against one of the Freo small forwards (they have plenty). That suggests to me that he wont be subbed as he has a substantial role to play in negating one of Ballantyne, Walters or Mayne.

I think its short sighted to say that Coaches have no clue about the sub rule now, three weeks into the season. I think that trial and error has shown that some players make better subs. Players who can come on and have an impact, have x factor, can add run to a tiring midfield and also kick a goal or two are ideal substitutes. The last two weeks there have been fewer injuries; as a result the sub rule has been able to be employed tactically. The clubs who have benefitted most from this have been West Coast (Against Port and Sydney) and Sydney against West Coast.

I think we as fantasy coaches would be negligent, bordering on ignorant if we didn’t attempt to analyse the trends of the sub rule.

Grazz

I got Gaff and im praying he plays a full game this week, price rise was rubbish
due to sub rule and i reckon the blokes a gun in the making. Not Happy Jan...

Bluke

Worsfold has alluded to the fact that Gaff is due a full game, his body should be relatively fresh so it may happen this week against the Hawks (lots of other Eagles have pulled up sore with only 11 completing full training on monday).

elephants

If gaff plays full games he will be looking at curnow like numbers....
Think about it he has been scoring 40 and 50 in a couple of quarters.

Bluke

That maybe a little much to ask from Gaff. Although Heppell like numbers is easily within his reach.

Ziplock

look, my logic for a sub would be a player who can deliver in bursts, but have little game impact otherwise (such as krak), as well as someone who is flexible and can cover many positions.

yorgis

my idea of a sub, is a younger mid/forward player who will get involved around the ball, and use his fresh legs to break away from packs and ball ups to set up or kick goals. a la rohan and gaff

Cicjose

then you would think fyfe would fit the bill as well?

yorgis

the docks would have to be insane to use fyfey as a sub, he's good to go for the whole game
