My team is going well ranked around 4500th, Averaging 2084 per round at the minute.
Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on what rounds to start looking at upgrades etc.
I understand breakevens and all that side of it but just looking for any tips on upgrading throughout the year,
Thanks !

Hellopplz

After a team has their first bye is a good time, if they have had two that's even better! Breakevens are taken into account as well and could save you that 50k.

I'd like to see form from my upgrade targets first. No point trading them in if they aren't scoring yet!

For downgrading for cash, have to look at the breakevens but also need to know about your upgrade targets. If you want Selwood for example, may need to trade off a cash cow early to be able to get him at his lowest. It really depends on who you want and when is the perfect time to strike.

So for example what do you think selwoods lowest price will be and in what round?is it round 7 after there buy?

Okay here is a little example of trading to premium.

Eg:

Let's say you only have $ 10,000 in the bank. And you are eying off Didak...

A stupid thing to do here is to trade a rookie that has still got a negative break even. And Didak has such a high break even that it is about impossible.
It's assured that he will go down in price even if he gets 100. The same can be said for your rookies, only they will go up in price & not down.

You wait until Didak has B/E that he can easily achieve, such as 60. You surmise that at this price and at that B/E point, he has effectively "bottomed out," and then you look at your rookies.

You notice Tapscott has made you some decent cash but has had a bad week last week and his B/E is over 80. You can either bite the bullet and keep him and see if he can get past it. Or you trade him out and down to a rookie that is playing and playing well. Gysberts was a prime example from last year if you can remember!!

So now you have "Harvested or culled" your cow and now have reaped the benefits with a tidy $ 200,000 (Hopefully)

So now get in Didak! But with a Double if you haven't got the cashola.

P.S: A good rule of thumb is too have $ 100,000 left over from before lockout. That way your first trade ain't a double but a superb one trade upgrade.  ;)

For me personally as i go for ranking i try to get my team good as fast as possible. I look at rookies who have BE that they are likely to beat but wont go up in value mcuh, e.g if duigan has an average of 70 but a BE of say 40-50 he should get that quite easy. However if he does he will only likely go up under 10k. I look for another rookie say bewick who has a simular thing. Than i i pick a premium who has had 1 or 2 few bad games, for me this will be selwood or montagna. In terms of there BE i dont mind if its a bit over there average, say for example if selwood has a BE of 115 than i would probably consider him. I personally like the double trades as i dont like having money sitting there.

that is what i have done this year left myself with $149k instead of almost nothing so my first trade this year is hopefully shuey straight to a premium.hence only using one trade.

Yeah, well I'm a tight arse when it comes to trades.  ;)

Good work. That's a major factor when selecting your team straight up.

i always burn trades, i would rather my team collapse and fall outside the top 20k after being hit by injuries than playing it safe and staying inside the top 5k. Big risks = Big Rewards or Failure

Okay, how many trades have yah used thus far?

2 trades, and i plan for 2 in round 7, 2 in round 9 and 2 in round 10. My atley to curnow trade this week was great, however my foley to ward trade should have been foley to libba

Windigo

Quotefoley to ward trade

Yeah, I would not have done that..

I was thining ward v GC surely thats a 100 guranteed right?. He would be in the low 300ks by round 7 and than i only need drop duigan to turn him into selwood.

bundyboy

sound thinking....you weren't the only one I'm sure...

just glad i took the libba option  -  got to pick it right sometime :)

but then again....lets see what was the right decision in 3 more weeks...

Scotch

How do you find out the breakeven?  I remember using some program last year but can't remember its name or where to get it...
